Dear Victorian Tennis Community,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Welcome to the December\u202fEdition of Tennis Victoria News, it\u2019s been a wonderful year of tennis in 2022 and I hope you are all looking forward to the summer of tennis upon us.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our thoughts continue to be with those in flood and weather affected areas. We are continuing to update <\/span>this page<\/span><\/a> for any grants available related to the floods and please reach out directly to your <\/span>Club Development Officer<\/span><\/a> if you need support.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Summer of Tennis calendar was recently announced<\/span>, including the Kooyong Classic, which returns after two years, the Hume Tennis and Community Centre playing host to the Victorian Wheelchair Open and Melbourne Wheelchair Open, the Juniors ITF J1 at Traralgon and the 2023 Australian Open at Melbourne Park.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019re pleased that clubs around Victoria will feature this summer, and we hope you can go along and experience great tennis in our backyard.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Due to flooding in the Shepparton\/Mooroopna area, Tennis Victoria 2023 Country Week will now be staged at the Yarrawonga Lawn Tennis Club from Sunday February 12 \u2013 Friday February 17. <\/span>Click here<\/span><\/a> for more information and to register your team for next year.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Also on court, the National <\/span>competitive play calendar has been released for 2023<\/span>. Closer to home, some congratulations are in order.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Firstly, congratulations to our nine finalists for the Australian Tennis Awards which will be held next Monday evening. You an read more about the nominees here<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

We also congratulate MCC Glen Iris Valley Tennis Club for winning both the <\/span>Women\u2019s & Men\u2019s Division<\/span><\/a>s in Premier League 2022. The Premier League Grand Final was staged on a well-attended Saturday Night at the National Tennis Centre and Livestreamed on Kayo Sports. Additionally, a huge congratulations to our <\/span>Associations Junior League champions<\/span><\/a> that won their respective divisions on Sunday November 20 and thank you to Hume, Doveton, North Ringwood and Boroondara for hosting these finals. Finally, congratulations to Olivia Sayers, who has recently won the II-2 Division Singles at the Australian Tennis Championships.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In other news, at the beginning of the year we surveyed our affiliates to find out your level of satisfaction with the service that we provide at Tennis Victoria. <\/span>
\nWe are pleased to share some of those results with you here<\/a><\/span>\u00a0We continually strive to support our affiliate network and the we value the honest feedback that we received to help us continually improve,\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tennis Victoria Life Member, Roma Shipp recently passed away. Roma was named a Life Member in 2006 as recognition for her dedication and service to tennis over many years. The Board, Staff and fellow Life Members of Tennis Victoria extend their sympathy to Roma\u2019s family and many friends, especially those in the Victorian tennis community who Roma met through her life in tennis.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
