{"id":28939,"date":"2022-10-28T09:29:03","date_gmt":"2022-10-27T22:29:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/?p=28939"},"modified":"2022-10-28T09:29:03","modified_gmt":"2022-10-27T22:29:03","slug":"15-award-winners-recognised-at-the-2022-victorian-tennis-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/news\/2022\/10\/28\/15-award-winners-recognised-at-the-2022-victorian-tennis-awards","title":{"rendered":"15 Award Winners Recognised at the 2022 Victorian Tennis Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>2022 Victorian Tennis Awards<\/strong> winners were announced on Thursday Night with <strong>15 award recipients<\/strong> and fellow finalists recognised in front of the Victorian tennis community.<\/p>\n<p>The Victorian Tennis Awards, run by <strong>Tennis Victoria<\/strong>, align with the Australian Tennis Awards and winners with a national category are now eligible to be nominated for the <strong>2022 Newcombe Medal (The Australian Tennis Awards)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tennis Victoria<em> CEO Adam Crameri<\/em><\/strong> was thrilled with recognising the award winners and finalists in front of the Victorian tennis community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongratulations to all finalists and to the winners of the 2022 Victorian Tennis Awards. We had incredible nominations put forth by the Victorian tennis community and being able to recognise the finalists and winners tonight was an honour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA special congratulations to the <strong>Victorian Spirit of Tennis Winner Dylan Alcott OAM<\/strong> for your drive to increase the profile of tennis and Wheelchair tennis across Victoria, Australia and Internationally, and for what you have done and continue to do, to increase inclusion awareness for all people, across the community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>The new awards in 2022<\/strong>, the <strong>Victorian Player of the Year<\/strong> was won by <strong>John Peers<\/strong> after his most recent efforts of 2022, winning the US Open Mixed Doubles with partner Storm Sanders and a Bronze Medal in Tokyo at the Olympics with Ashleigh Barty. The <strong>Coaching Excellence \u2013 Development award<\/strong> was won by <strong>Michael Logarzo<\/strong> from <strong>ML Tennis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In the athlete categories, the <strong>Junior Athlete of the Year Awards<\/strong> were won by <strong>Roisin Gilheany <\/strong>and <strong>Saalim Naser <\/strong>with <strong>Jarrod Broadbent <\/strong>winning the <strong>30+ Tennis Senior Award<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Most Outstanding Athlete with a Disability<\/strong> award was won by Tokyo Paralympian and four time Grand Slam Champion, <strong>Heath Davidson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The volunteer achievement award was won by <strong>Nadine Maloney from Hawthorn Tennis Club<\/strong> and Excellence in Officiating award went to <strong>Christopher Dellas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In the Club Awards, the winner of the <strong>Most Outstanding Club or Centre<\/strong> was the <strong>Coburg Tennis Club<\/strong> and the <strong>Most Outstanding Tournament <\/strong>was the<strong> Labour Day Tournament <\/strong>held at the <strong>Euroa Lawn Tennis Club<\/strong>. The <strong>Coaching Excellence \u2013 Club or Centre Award<\/strong> was won by <strong>Vicky Lee at Slamin\u2019 Tennis and Fitness at Doncaster Tennis Club, Vicky Lee\u2019s Advantage Autism program also won the Most Outstanding Inclusion initiative.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the schools category, <strong>Aitken Creek Primary School<\/strong> won the <strong>Most Outstanding School<\/strong> award and winning the <strong>Supporting Tennis \u2013 Local Government Award<\/strong> was <strong>Maroondah City Council<\/strong> in Melbourne\u2019s East.<\/p>\n<p>After announcing his retirement in 2022, <strong>Dylan Alcott OAM<\/strong> was announced as the <strong>2022 Victorian Spirit of Tennis Award Winner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>More photos available <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TennisVic\">HERE<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2022 Victorian Tennis Awards winners were announced on Thursday Night with 15 award recipients and fellow finalists recognised in front of the Victorian tennis community.
