Interning at Tennis Victoria – LETESHA STEPHENS<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Letesha Stephens joined Tennis Victoria as an intern from Federation University in Ballarat. Letesha is studying Sport Management and Business (Major in Marketing) with the aim of graduating in March and being the first in her family to do so! <\/span><\/p>\n

We have loved having Letesha on board the Tennis Vic team – we caught up with Letesha to hear about her experiences in Tennis and at Tennis Victoria!<\/span><\/p>\n

What has been the best part of working at Tennis Victoria?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The people and tennis communities.\u00a0Working alongside clubs in the\u00a0Country West Region\u00a0who are incredibly passionate about tennis and their members; as well as the\u00a0Tennis Vic\u00a0team who are very dedicated to the game and providing our communities with opportunities to play into the future.<\/span><\/p>\n

What has been the best task\/project you were given working at Tennis Victoria?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I have been working with clubs to assist them with ClubSpark, it has been very rewarding, it\u2019s great to see how the digital administration management system can help clubs with their day-to-day task and make it easier on our volunteers. My role was to assist clubs in getting familiar with the system and helping them to set up their website, renewals, and membership packages.<\/span><\/p>\n

I have also enjoyed working in the background of our\u00a0Tennis4Teens\u00a0Program, which has included an element of assisting our\u00a0Play it Forward\u00a0group in forming into a long-term youth council. I have been assisting in the co-creation of documents, such as the\u00a0Expression of Interest\u00a0and\u00a0Terms of References, that have been driven by the\u00a0Play it Forward\u00a0group.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s so great to see our future leaders of tennis stepping up and creating momentum. I feel very inspired by their work!<\/span><\/p>\n

What’s something you\u2019ve learnt whilst being at Tennis Victoria?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I have learned so much with my time at\u00a0Tennis Vic, here’s a couple of my favourite quotes I have learned from the wisdom of my peers at\u00a0Tennis Vic\u00a0who have all been SUPERSTARS in supporting my development! \u201cYou can\u2019t be, what you can\u2019t see\u201d and \u201cNothing ventured, nothing gained\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

These quotes I have relied on at some point during my internship as guidance, may that be to ask questions, remember kindness and empathy; and to ensure I have a go at something even if I find it scary or new.<\/span><\/p>\n

What was your best day at Tennis Victoria?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

My best day at Tennis Vic was going to the Tennis Vic Headquarters, I haven\u2019t had many chances to go over 2021 for the big \u2018covid\u2019 reason. So, when I did, it was such a reward!<\/span><\/p>\n

Although there were only 10 of us allowed in the office at the time, it was such a treat to meet my co-workers from different areas of the organisation, and this was the second time I had met my supervisor! I had forgotten how tall Cam Govan was as I had spent the first half of my internship online seeing him through a screen. This was also the second or third time I had met half of the Country West Team of all who I was grateful to see in person!<\/span><\/p>\n

What do you think of the staff culture? And have you enjoyed interacting with the tennis community?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I have immensely enjoyed the Tennis Vic Culture and connecting with the Country West Clubs. I am very humbled by the care and dedication of both affiliated Tennis Clubs and Associations, as well as the Tennis Vic Team! <\/span><\/p>\n

We all share a passion for getting people connected, playing, and thriving!<\/span><\/p>\n
