Tennis Victoria Country Week 2022 <\/strong>has come to an end, and what a week it was. Swan Hill Lawn Tennis Club<\/strong> played host to a fantastic week of tennis, fun, friendships and community.<\/p>\n

On the final day there could only be 23 winners<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Tandara<\/strong> took the A Grade Women\u2019s title while the Lecontes<\/strong> (Shepparton) took the A Grade Men\u2019s title.<\/p>\n

Tandara<\/strong> also capped off a brilliant week by winning the Gilchrist Pearce Cup<\/strong>, an award for all 23 grades to aspire to for achieving the highest game winning percentage from all round matches.<\/p>\n

Country Week 2022 – By the numbers:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>1200 Players<\/strong> took part in Tennis Victoria Country Week 2022, aged between 15 and 83.<\/p>\n

189 Teams<\/strong> competed – 107 female<\/strong> teams, 82 male<\/strong> teams.<\/p>\n

There were 23 grades<\/strong> contested over the week.<\/p>\n

2,304 Dunlop Australian Open tennis<\/strong> balls<\/strong> were used.<\/p>\n

92 pristine grass courts<\/strong> were curated and prepared by Country Week Legend Dan Gardner. This included 47 <\/strong>permanent courts and 45<\/strong> courts prepared on the soccer and croquet fields.<\/p>\n

50 tennis nets<\/strong> were produced. The temporary court nets are then available for purchase by participating teams to take home to their clubs.<\/p>\n

60 racquets <\/strong>were restrung by the team at Tennis Lab.<\/p>\n

576 Salad Rolls <\/strong>were devoured at lunchtime throughout the week.<\/p>\n

Over 1000 bottles<\/strong> of water kept players hydrated.<\/p>\n

600 people attended<\/strong> Swan Hill Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club\u2019s Welcome Night on Sunday.<\/p>\n

17 local stalls<\/strong> sold their wares at the Farmer\u2019s Market on Thursday.<\/p>\n

6 participants <\/strong>were named Country Week Legends. Congratulations to Karyn Fraser (Mansfield), Heather Camm (Euroa), Kelvin Noonan (Maryborough), Tracey Beaston (Buninyong), Ange Willett (Enfield), Daniel Gardner (Swan Hill)<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There was 1 heat delay<\/strong> across the week giving the players some welcome relief from the heat.<\/p>\n

Over 200 hardworking volunteers<\/strong> from the Swan Hill Lawn Tennis Club, working together with Tennis Victoria, contributed to the wonderful event presentation that the club displayed.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Swan Hill teams had the shortest drive to get to Country Week. Others had a bigger trip with players travelling from as far as Alice Springs,<\/strong> Merimbula and Brisbane.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We hosted 3 community support organisations<\/strong>. Thank you to the EJ Whitten Foundation<\/strong>, Beyond Blue<\/strong> and FARA Australia<\/strong> for their support of Country Week.<\/p>\n

Thank you also to Sunblessed Sunscreens<\/strong> and Tennis Lab<\/strong> for supporting Country Week.<\/p>\n

The greatest community sporting event may have come to an end for another year but it will be back again in 2023 from Sunday 12 to Friday 17 February<\/strong> when it heads to Shepparton & Mooroopna<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
