Jane Crozier of Woodend Tennis Club and Macedon Ranges Tennis Association has been playing and contributing to tennis for most of her adult life. She has held numerous committee roles and responsibilities at the club and association and been a stand-out contributor to the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor me, volunteering in a small community is about giving people an opportunity to experience things, whether it be sport, theatre, playing games, reading, doing craft work, emergency services, etc. Without volunteers many of these opportunities would not exist.\u201d said Jane after being presented with her award.<\/p>\n
A committee member at the Woodend TC since 1990 including stints as President, Vice President and Treasurer, Jane believes that being a part of any group or organisation is a healthy pursuit and [she has] been involved in many organisations, many of them for the benefit of [her] children.<\/p>\n
Jane has been instrumental in raising funds to build 6 new courts and upgrade the tennis club. She\u2019s an expert at managing scoring systems and communications and has played a big role in local junior tennis.<\/p>\n
\u201cTennis is my chosen sport and my involvement has directly benefitted me as I still like to play, and I have made many like-minded friends and acquaintances.\u00a0 I have been involved with the provision of junior tennis both at club level and association level for many years and I love watching the development of our youth.\u00a0 For me tennis is one of the few ageless sports and I love watching the young people transition though to open competition and continue to be engaged with their community.\u00a0 Watching clubs and competitions grow and expand is also very satisfying as is getting adults back on the court after absences of many years.\u00a0 Being involved in new initiatives that literally get people on the court is very rewarding\u201d said Jane.<\/p>\n
Upon reflection of the surprise presentation Jane was \u201cvery honoured to have received this very prestigious and limited award.\u00a0 Although my own involvement has spanned almost 40 years, I always feel surrounded by good people doing wonderful things for their clubs\/teams\/associations, so I also feel humbled for being chosen to receive this award from amongst the many\u201d.<\/p>\n
