{"id":27090,"date":"2021-12-08T15:49:23","date_gmt":"2021-12-08T04:49:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/?p=27090"},"modified":"2021-12-08T15:49:23","modified_gmt":"2021-12-08T04:49:23","slug":"anz-tennis-hot-shots-racquet-roadshow-reaches-200000-milestone-at-syndal-south-primary-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/news\/2021\/12\/08\/anz-tennis-hot-shots-racquet-roadshow-reaches-200000-milestone-at-syndal-south-primary-school","title":{"rendered":"ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Racquet Roadshow reaches 200,000 milestone at Syndal South Primary School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Racquet Roadshow celebrated a major milestone today, with the 200,000<sup>th<\/sup> racquet presented at Syndal South Primary School by 22-time Grand Slam champion Todd Woodbridge.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past five years ANZ and Tennis Australia have delivered 200,000 racquets into the hands of first-year primary school children, with 30,000 children from more than 700 schools receiving their first racquet in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>At Syndal South Primary school today, Woodbridge presented racquets to 40 prep students who then hit the courts for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a training session with the tennis legend.<\/p>\n<p>The magnificent Australian Open trophies \u2013 the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup and the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup, also known as Norm and Daphne, joined the celebrations, along with a giant golden tennis racquet.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-standard-landscape-medium wp-image-27092\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/files\/2021\/12\/54428-360x230.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"230\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/files\/2021\/12\/54428-360x230.jpg 360w, https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/files\/2021\/12\/54428-700x450.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/files\/2021\/12\/54428-200x128.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Syndal South also had the honour of being named Tennis Victoria&#8217;s Most Outstanding School in this year&#8217;s Victorian Tennis Awards. While the winners were announced in a virtual ceremony in October, Tennis Victoria Coaching Leader Jon Watson was excited to present Principal Helen Freeman with the trophy in person.<\/p>\n<p>As well as putting 200,000 racquets in the hands of kids over the past five years, some of Australia\u2019s most loved tennis names, including Woodbridge, John Fitzgerald, and Casey Dellacqua have visited schools across the country \u2013 both in person, and over the past 18 months, virtually, to inspire and encourage the kids to pick up their new racquets and swing into action.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Racquet Roadshow has been an outstanding success and is a credit to all our team involved in the Tennis in Schools\u2019 program and our longstanding partnership with ANZ,\u201d Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGetting more kids involved in tennis is part of what we do every single day, and to have been able to put racquets in the hands of 200,000 kids across the country is a tremendous milestone to celebrate.
