Victorian John Peers has continued his year of stunning form, taking out the Indian Wells Men\u2019s Doubles championships with partner Filip Pol\u00e1\u0161ek.<\/p>\n
They bested the Russian duo of Andrey Rublev and Aslan Karatsev 6-3, 7-6(5), claiming their fourth consecutive straight-sets victory.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s the first title for the pair after a stunning run at the US Open, which ended at the hands of Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares in the semi-final.<\/p>\n
Peers and Polasek have now won thirteen of their last sixteen matches, a record that hasn\u2019t gone unnoticed.<\/p>\n
With Peers expected to return to the World\u2019s Top 20, and the pair chasing a spot in the coveted ATP finals, they have firmly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with.<\/p>\n
The victory marks Peers\u2019 fourth win at ATP Masters 1000 level, and twenty-fifth career ATP doubles title. He becomes the seventh Australian man to win an Indian Wells title, and the first in 22 years!<\/p>\n
Peers has enjoyed a phenomenal run in both Men\u2019s and Mixed doubles this year, after he and partner Zhang Shuai also made the semi finals at Wimbledon. Zhang would then go on to win the US Open Women\u2019s Doubles competition with fellow Australian Sam Stosur.<\/p>\n
He’s also the proud owner of an Olympic bronze medal, which he won with Wimbledon champion Ash Barty in Tokyo earlier this year.<\/p>\n
