{"id":26739,"date":"2021-10-18T14:02:34","date_gmt":"2021-10-18T03:02:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/?p=26739"},"modified":"2021-10-18T14:02:34","modified_gmt":"2021-10-18T03:02:34","slug":"peers-and-polasek-crowned-champions-in-the-desert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/news\/2021\/10\/18\/peers-and-polasek-crowned-champions-in-the-desert","title":{"rendered":"Peers and Pol\u00e1\u0161ek Crowned Champions in the Desert"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Victorian John Peers has continued his year of stunning form, taking out the Indian Wells Men\u2019s Doubles championships with partner Filip Pol\u00e1\u0161ek.<\/p>\n<p>They bested the Russian duo of Andrey Rublev and Aslan Karatsev 6-3, 7-6(5), claiming their fourth consecutive straight-sets victory.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the first title for the pair after a stunning run at the US Open, which ended at the hands of Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares in the semi-final.<\/p>\n<p>Peers and Polasek have now won thirteen of their last sixteen matches, a record that hasn\u2019t gone unnoticed.<\/p>\n<p>With Peers expected to return to the World\u2019s Top 20, and the pair chasing a spot in the coveted ATP finals, they have firmly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with.<\/p>\n<p>The victory marks Peers\u2019 fourth win at ATP Masters 1000 level, and twenty-fifth career ATP doubles title. He becomes the seventh Australian man to win an Indian Wells title, and the first in 22 years!<\/p>\n<p>Peers has enjoyed a phenomenal run in both Men\u2019s and Mixed doubles this year, after he and partner Zhang Shuai also made the semi finals at Wimbledon.
