Harry Mezger at the 2021 Australian Tennis Championships at Melbourne Park<\/p><\/div>\n

Victorians Harry Mezger and Olivia Sayers have emerged victorious at the Australian Tennis Championships, which took place last week.<\/p>\n

Mezger defeated fellow Victorian William Caldwell 6-3 6-3 to claim the win in the Intellectual Impairment – II-1, Men’s Division 2 competition.<\/p>\n

Sayers was crowned champion of the Women’s Down Syndrome – II-2 category, defeating Jane Hopkins 6-3 4-3 (ret.)<\/p>\n

Victorian athletes were present in almost every category, as Ryder Smith was runner-up of the Junior Deaf & Hard of Hearing competition.<\/p>\n

Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley was at Melbourne Park to present the awards to the champions;<\/p>\n

\u201cTennis is one of the most inclusive sports in the world, and we pride ourselves on being able to provide opportunities for all members of our community to play, compete and thrive in tennis,\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
