{"id":25498,"date":"2021-04-16T13:00:29","date_gmt":"2021-04-16T03:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/?p=25498"},"modified":"2021-04-19T08:40:53","modified_gmt":"2021-04-18T22:40:53","slug":"females-in-tennis-development-camps-ready-to-hit-wodonga-bendigo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/news\/2021\/04\/16\/females-in-tennis-development-camps-ready-to-hit-wodonga-bendigo","title":{"rendered":"Females in Tennis Development Camps ready to hit Wodonga, Bendigo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aspiring female junior tennis players are set to benefit from<strong style=\"font-style: inherit\">\u00a0Tennis Australia\u2019s Females in Tennis Development Camps<\/strong>, when the new initiative hits the\u00a0<strong style=\"font-style: inherit\">Wodonga Tennis Centre<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>Fosterville Gold Tennis Centre in Bendigo<\/strong> next month.<\/p>\n<p>Set to strengthen opportunities for Victorian girls and women in tennis, both<strong>\u00a0Wodonga and Bendigo\u00a0<\/strong>will play host to two of the 25 camps being held across Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to funding, which comes as part of the 2019<strong style=\"font-style: inherit\">\u00a0Federal Government\u2019s $12million\u00a0<\/strong>commitment to women and girls in tennis, the Victorian based camps come at no cost to players, with registrations open to all female junior tennis players aged 10 \u2013 14 years of age.<\/p>\n<p>Hitting the\u00a0<strong style=\"font-style: inherit\">Wodonga Tennis Centre<\/strong>\u00a0on\u00a0<strong style=\"font-style: inherit\">Sunday May 2 and Fosterville Gold Tennis Centre (Bendigo) on Sunday May 16<\/strong>, participants will enjoy a full day development camp led by\u00a0<strong style=\"font-style: inherit\">Tennis Australia\u2019s National Lead \u2013 Females in Tennis, Emma Shoemaker<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong style=\"font-style: inherit\">Tennis Australia\u2019s Scholarship Coach, Genevieve Lorbergs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Aiming to develop player performance both on and off the court, participants of the female development camps will share in teachings presented at Tennis Australia\u2019s national camps; including principles and lessons reserved for the Australian Fed Cup Team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese camps are designed to bring girls together and show them that they are an important part of the Australian female tennis community, and that belonging to this community is something special,\u201d said Tennis Australia\u2019s National Lead \u2013 Females in Tennis, Emma Shoemaker.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-25503\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/files\/2021\/04\/Wodonga-FB-Event-700x450.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"406\" height=\"261\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/files\/2021\/04\/Wodonga-FB-Event-700x450.png 700w, https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/files\/2021\/04\/Wodonga-FB-Event-360x230.png 360w, https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/files\/2021\/04\/Wodonga-FB-Event-200x128.png 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 406px) 100vw, 406px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Designed specifically for girls and reflective of what is being seen in the modern women\u2019s game, participants will focus on skill development, peer connection and unique experiences within tennis.<\/p>\n<p>Underpinning the programs overall philosophy, will be Tennis Australia\u2019s Wellbeing Program, with activities designed for nurturing the development of emotionally healthy players.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe format of a camp is unique.
