Welcome to the April Edition of the Tennis Victoria News.<\/p>\n
I hope you all had a great Easter break and took advantage of the many annual Easter tournaments played across Victoria.<\/p>\n
We were also pleased to see the Victorian Grasscourt Championships return to Geelong Lawn Tennis Club last week. Congratulations to Dayne Kelly and Katherine Westbury for taking out the singles titles and Monique Barry, Olivia Symons, Erik Holt-Crossman and Zac Osborne for their doubles title wins.<\/p>\n
The Victorian Claycourt Championships<\/a> are currently on at Royal Park TC, we wish all competitors the best of luck. We also wish the best of luck to the 21 Victorians heading to Canberra<\/a> for the 12\/U and 14\/U Claycourt National Championships!<\/p>\n Off the court our Staff came together to celebrate the amazing work of the Royal Children\u2019s Hospital through the Good Friday Appeal<\/a> and the virtual Run for the Kids. It\u2019s great that we can give to a cause that is so important to many Victorians.<\/p>\n Later this month we will finally welcome back Tennis Victoria Pennant! Cancelled for the first time in its 138 year history last year due to COVID-19 restrictions, we\u2019re so pleased to see close to 400 teams competing over the winter months.<\/p>\n Thank you to those clubs, associations and coaches that recently attended our Tennis Victoria Strategy consultation workshops. We received great feedback which will help shape the future strategic direction for tennis across Victoria.<\/p>\n As we move into May, we\u2019ll be celebrating our Volunteers and our First Nations Peoples as we celebrate National Volunteer Week and National Reconciliation Week with the Victorian Tennis Community.<\/p>\n And in further exciting news, we will have our first ever Blind & Low Vision State Championships on May 1 & May 2 at the National Tennis Centre!<\/p>\n
