{"id":24879,"date":"2021-02-04T10:53:52","date_gmt":"2021-02-03T23:53:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/?p=24879"},"modified":"2021-02-05T14:31:11","modified_gmt":"2021-02-05T03:31:11","slug":"east-ringwood-tc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/news\/2021\/02\/04\/east-ringwood-tc","title":{"rendered":"East Ringwood Tennis Club joins ClubSpark"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>East Ringwood Tennis Club jumped on to the new ClubSpark system in the middle of 2020 and have been &#8216;loving life&#8217; ever since! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Club&nbsp;had many volunteers, including&nbsp;President&nbsp;Joan\nCarter&nbsp;who completed the&nbsp;daily&nbsp;administration for the club.&nbsp;But\nwhen&nbsp;Jacob&nbsp;Mutton, the Club Coach&nbsp;at East Ringwood&nbsp;suggested\nthat the Club try the new system and give it a go&nbsp;after implementing at\nParkwood Tennis Club, Carter was all for it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI was busy doing other things, but then Jake\nsuggested it, and&nbsp;I thought, we can&nbsp;only say we don\u2019t want it anymore,&nbsp;but\nwe were really happy\u201d&nbsp;said Carter.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carter was the first&nbsp;person at the club&nbsp;to&nbsp;personally&nbsp;benefit\nfrom&nbsp;ClubSpark, noting the amount of administration that had been lifted&nbsp;by\nsimply&nbsp;switching over to the new&nbsp;system.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA good 50% of my administration&nbsp;load&nbsp;has\nbeen taken off my shoulders, I was using an excel spreadsheet and now&nbsp;everything\nis&nbsp;automatically updated. It\u2019s&nbsp;also&nbsp;helping us when we go\nthrough a financial year, I don\u2019t have to go through all the invoices because&nbsp;people\nwill&nbsp;get one automatically&nbsp;through&nbsp;ClubSpark\u201d explained Carter.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s also a lot less personal contact&nbsp;needed,\nso when you have a small committee like ours, you don\u2019t have to ask anyone to\ncome down and open up the courts, as it\u2019s all done for you.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe membership part is&nbsp;so easy&nbsp;too, you can&nbsp;merge\nprofiles, delete them or archive them it\u2019s all nice and easy, it\u2019s got the\nmembership, the website, the contacts all in one, that\u2019s handy as well\u201d Mutton\nadded.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The system has&nbsp;supported&nbsp;off-court&nbsp;activities\nat the club, but East Ringwood&nbsp;Tennis Club&nbsp;has&nbsp;also&nbsp;benefited\non-court as well, having boosted participation&nbsp;just&nbsp;by onboarding&nbsp;to&nbsp;ClubSpark.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/files\/2021\/02\/IMG_8385-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24881\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/files\/2021\/02\/IMG_8385-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/files\/2021\/02\/IMG_8385-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>East Ringwood Tennis Club&#8217;s Joan Carter &amp; Jacob Mutton with Club Development Officer Danielle Cornwall<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPeople are willing to come down, have their hit, and\nsometimes we have three courts for social hitting and we never used to have that.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s a routine&nbsp;and a system&nbsp;that social\nplayers&nbsp;have adapted to,&nbsp;but&nbsp;this has also filtered through to\nthe&nbsp;club\u2019s general&nbsp;membership.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>\n&nbsp;<br>\n\u201cSometimes members&nbsp;ring\nme up and say,&nbsp;can I go and have a hit, and I say&nbsp;yes&nbsp;definitely,&nbsp;go\nto book a court and go on the website, it\u2019ll do it all for you\u201d&nbsp;Carter\nexplains.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a routine that people will need to get used to,\nbut it makes things easy, you get a confirmation email with a gate key code and&nbsp;have&nbsp;access&nbsp;to\nthe court and have a wonderful time.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnd&nbsp;it caters for everyone too, there\u2019s&nbsp;some&nbsp;people\nthat want to come and have a hit and then go straight home, then there\u2019s others\nthat see it as a more social time.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Although there are&nbsp;196&nbsp;Tennis\nClubs around Victoria that have made the transition to&nbsp;ClubSpark, there\nare some yet to make the journey&nbsp;across &#8211;&nbsp;we asked Joan &amp; Jake if\nthey had any advice to Clubs&nbsp;looking to get onboard&nbsp;in the future?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Joan:<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cDo it!\u00a0It\u2019s mint!\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0using it\u00a0and\u00a0reaping the benefits\u00a0as\u00a0an\u00a0administrator, so I\u2019m going to be singing\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0praises.\u201d\u00a0<br> \u00a0<br> Having already implemented the system at Parkwood Tennis Club, Mutton also mentioned to start small with the Book a court system as clubs begin to implement it into their communities: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jake:<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cEven if you\u2019re not comfortable with doing all\nthe courts&nbsp;(through Book a court), just start with one entry point.
