{"id":24624,"date":"2020-12-30T08:26:09","date_gmt":"2020-12-29T21:26:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/?p=24624"},"modified":"2021-01-15T15:46:02","modified_gmt":"2021-01-15T04:46:02","slug":"elsternwick-park-cardio-tennis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/news\/2020\/12\/30\/elsternwick-park-cardio-tennis","title":{"rendered":"Elsternwick Park &#8211; Cardio Tennis"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It goes\nwithout saying, it\u2019s been a tough year for our Affiliate Tennis Clubs, but\nfollowing the easing of restrictions in late 2020, Elsternwick Park Tennis\nCentre has made the most of the opportunity to be back on court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Club\nhas turned a minor setback into a major comeback and rebounded through their popular\nCardio Tennis program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elsternwick\nPark is currently running 58\nhours of Cardio Tennis classes per week and has 337 participants&nbsp;attending\nclasses on court and once finished, enjoying the offerings that the club\nprovides off court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mat Garnham, Co-Director of Elsternwick Park says the program has always been successful, but especially after the restrictions, and this is largely through word of mouth and the way the program is run at the club. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe way we run Cardio Tennis is unique,\nwe have points-based Tennis and the session is completely non-stop from start\nto finish \u2013 people will keep moving throughout our sessions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA lot of\nparents from the local schools would come across (to Elsternwick Park TC), and\nvia word of mouth, they would come and participate here. We also gave people\nthe option of creating their own groups and come on a weekly basis, which has\nbeen really popular with the community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAll you\nneed is a ringleader, then it evolves from there!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People\nare starting to actively select Cardio Tennis as a great combination of both\nexercise, playing sport and socialising, and in the current climate, this can\nbe all done whilst social distancing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Garnham\nexplained how the Cardio Tennis sessions are run and provided the three key\nthings a club needs to do to run a successful Cardio Tennis Program: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\noften have groups participate and stay around after their session for a drink and\na chat.
