{"id":24442,"date":"2020-11-27T12:51:12","date_gmt":"2020-11-27T01:51:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/?p=24442"},"modified":"2020-11-27T12:53:58","modified_gmt":"2020-11-27T01:53:58","slug":"victorian-juniors-to-benefit-from-tennis-australias-females-in-tennis-development-camp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/news\/2020\/11\/27\/victorian-juniors-to-benefit-from-tennis-australias-females-in-tennis-development-camp","title":{"rendered":"Victorian juniors to benefit from Tennis Australia\u2019s Females in Tennis Development Camp"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Aspiring female junior tennis players are set to benefit from<strong> Tennis Australia\u2019s Females in Tennis Development Camp<\/strong>, when the new initiative hits the <strong>Warrnambool Lawn Tennis Club<\/strong> next month.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Set to amplify opportunities\nfor girls and women in tennis,<strong> Warrnambool <\/strong>will play host to the first\ninstalment of four camps being rolled out across the state, with a total of 25\ncamps being held across Australia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to funding, which\ncomes as part of the 2019<strong> Federal Government\u2019s $12million <\/strong>commitment to\nwomen and girls in tennis, the south-west based camp comes at no cost to\nplayers, with registrations open to all female junior tennis players aged 9 \u2013\n14 years of age. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hitting the <strong>Warrnambool\nLawn Tennis Club<\/strong> on <strong>Sunday 20 December<\/strong>, participants will enjoy a\nfull day development camp led by <strong>Tennis Australia\u2019s National Lead \u2013 Females\nin Tennis, Emma Shoemaker<\/strong> and <strong>Tennis Australia\u2019s Scholarship Coach,\nGenevieve Lorbergs<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aiming to develop player\nperformance both on and off the court, participants of the female development\ncamps will share in teachings presented at Tennis Australia\u2019s national camps;\nincluding principles and lessons reserved for the Australian Fed Cup Team.<strong><em><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese camps are designed to\nbring girls together and show them that they are an important part of the\nAustralian female tennis community, and that belonging to this community is\nsomething special,\u201d said Tennis Australia\u2019s National Lead \u2013 Females in Tennis,\nEmma Shoemaker.<strong><em><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Designed specifically for\ngirls and reflective of what is being seen in the modern women\u2019s game,\nparticipants will focus on skill development, peer connection and unique\nexperiences within tennis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Underpinning the programs\noverall philosophy, will be Tennis Australia\u2019s Wellbeing Program, with\nactivities designed for nurturing the development of emotionally healthy\nplayers.<strong><em><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe format of a camp is\nunique. We\u2019re able to create a comfortable setting for girls to explore new\nskills, and we have the time and space to run activities off court. <strong><em><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBoth from a wellbeing and\non-court perspective, we know the skills we are teaching in these camps are\nones that will be important down the track, especially if girls are looking to\npursue high performance tennis\u201d said Shoemaker. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Set to offer development\nopportunities for girls across Australia, the Females in Tennis Development\nCamps will also look to identify players for ongoing opportunities available\nthrough both state and national development pathways and camps.
