Central Highlands and Loddon Campaspe celebrated success over the weekend, winning the John Fitzgerald Cup and Judy Dalton Cup respectively.<\/p>\n

Wild weather across the state threatened the play in both 13\/u competitions, forcing a number of incomplete and cancelled matches in Moe for the Judy Dalton Cup.<\/p>\n

Loddon Campaspe had done enough in the early matches to come away with the win, with other results unable to be determined due to washouts in the final rounds.<\/p>\n

Tournament Manager, Shelly Hart, was impressed with the standard of play across the rain affected weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were really happy with how each of the girls conducted themselves while playing and when waiting for the wild weather to pass,\u201d Hart said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe girls and their parents were extremely patient which is a credit to them.<\/p>\n

\u201cCongratulations to Loddon Campaspe who were the eventual winners of the tournament and to everyone who participated across the weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cA special mention to Moe Tennis Club who provided wonderful facilities and all the volunteers who assisted in hosting the event.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fortunately for the boys participating in the John Fitzgerald Cup, the weather in Portland held off, resulting in a completed tournament.<\/p>\n

Group A team, Central Highlands, defeated Group B winners, Barwon (6-36 to 0-9).<\/p>\n

Tournament Manager, Andrew Reynolds, was elated with the results from the weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was plenty of hard fought games over the weekend which was great to watch,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were worried the weather might impact the success of the weekend but fortunately we were able to navigate through it.<\/p>\n

\u201cA massive thank you to the Portland Lawn Tennis Club for hosting the event and having 14 magnificent grass courts prepared for our players.<\/p>\n

\u201cCongratulations to the boys from Central Highlands who played exceptionally well and took out the John Fitzgerald Cup and well done to all players across the weekend too.\u201d<\/p>\n
