Kyvalley Tennis Club has claimed a memorable win at the Tennis Victoria Champions Dinner by winning the prestigious Most Outstanding Club or Centre award on Friday night.<\/p>\n
Less than one week after the Grand Opening of their new courts courtesy of Pick My Project, the club, nominated for the second year in a row, won the award ahead of a standout field of competition including; Royal Park Tennis Club, Hume Tennis and Community Centre and Traralgon Tennis Association.<\/p>\n
The night was hosted by 22-time grand slam champion, Todd Woodbridge, and also attended by guest speaker, former World No.4, Jelena Dokic. Almost 400 guests packed into the magnificent Pullman, Albert Park, grand ballroom.<\/p>\n
The award is one of 14 other Victorian Tennis Awards that were presented, but the Most Outstanding Club or Centre proved to be an emotional victory for a club that had to resurrect itself following an eight-year recess. Fast-forward to now and the club boasts an incredible 300+ members from a town population of 329.<\/p>\n
The vibrant club situated approximately 200kms outside of Melbourne\u2019s CBD, nestled in between Shepparton and Echuca, has gone through significant change to lead to this moment.<\/p>\n
With approximately 70 participants in their most recent ANZ Tennis Hot Shots program, the club engages players through social and competition tennis. They have a thriving social tennis program that has players driving from neighbouring towns to participate. It is truly the heartbeat of the community.<\/p>\n
Kyvalley Tennis Club Treasurer, Melissa Williams, was excited to speak on behalf of the hard working volunteers that have allowed for the cub to get into a healthy position.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a huge acknowledgement for our club. We\u2019re a small country club and after reforming in the last seven years this is great recognition,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re in amongst the cow paddocks and it\u2019s great recognition for the volunteers, players and committee members, we couldn\u2019t be happier.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re over the moon,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
