{"id":16095,"date":"2016-09-06T16:11:04","date_gmt":"2016-09-06T06:11:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/?p=16095"},"modified":"2016-09-06T16:14:09","modified_gmt":"2016-09-06T06:14:09","slug":"2016-newcombe-medal-new-nomination-process","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/news\/2016\/09\/06\/2016-newcombe-medal-new-nomination-process","title":{"rendered":"2016 Newcombe Medal &#8211; New nomination process"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards celebrate and recognise the performances, achievements and contributions made by outstanding members of the tennis family each year.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016 a new nomination process for the Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards has been introduced.<\/p>\n<p>From 2016 onwards, nominations will not be accepted directly for these awards \u2013 instead, nominees must enter the running for their relevant Member Association awards and the winners of each state and territory award category will become finalists for the Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards.<\/p>\n<p>This process is designed to encourage the top candidates in each state and territory to put themselves forward for their Member Association awards, and will ensure representatives from across the national tennis community are recognised as Newcombe Medal award winners.<\/p>\n<p>Please find below categories for the Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards for 2016:<\/p>\n<p>Newcombe Medal <em>(closed award)<br \/>\n<\/em>Coaching Excellence \u2013 High Performance <em>(closed award)<br \/>\n<\/em>Coaching Excellence \u2013 Club<br \/>\nCoaching Excellence \u2013 Talent Development<br \/>\nExcellence in Officiating\u00a0<em>(closed award)<\/em><br \/>\nFemale Junior Athlete of the Year<br \/>\nMale Junior Athlete of the Year<br \/>\nMost Outstanding 35+ Tennis Senior<br \/>\nMost Outstanding Athlete with a Disability<br \/>\nMost Outstanding Tennis Club<br \/>\nMost Outstanding Professional Tournament\u00a0<em>(closed award)<\/em><br \/>\nMost Outstanding Australian Ranking Tournament<br \/>\nMost Outstanding School<br \/>\nVolunteer Achievement Award<br \/>\nPresident\u2019s Spirit of Tennis Award <em>(closed award)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>If you have been unable to nominate for your state\/territory award ahead of the deadline please contact Tennis Australia regarding your eligibility for a wildcard nomination \u2013 1800 PLAY TENNIS or <a href=\"play@tennis.com.au\">play@tennis.com.au<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To be eligible for the 2016 Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards we encourage all members of the tennis community to nominate for their local state or territory awards. Please visit your Member Association website to find out how to nominate yourself or someone you know in 2016.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>The 2016 Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards will be held at Crown Palladium in Melbourne on Monday 28 November.<\/p>\n<p>For guests attending the Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards, we are pleased to offer special accommodation rates at Crown Towers, Crown Promenade and Crown Metropol hotels.
