{"id":15656,"date":"2016-05-17T14:22:14","date_gmt":"2016-05-17T04:22:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/?p=15656"},"modified":"2016-05-17T14:22:14","modified_gmt":"2016-05-17T04:22:14","slug":"victorian-tennis-awards-local-government-recognition-finalists-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/news\/2016\/05\/17\/victorian-tennis-awards-local-government-recognition-finalists-announced","title":{"rendered":"Victorian Tennis Awards &#8211; Local Government Recognition finalists announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the first time, the <strong>Victorian Tennis Awards<\/strong> will now include a <em>Supporting Tennis \u2013 Local Government Recognition <\/em>award for Local Government Areas who are engaged with, and are supportive of, tennis in their community.<\/p>\n<p>City of<strong> Booroondara<\/strong>, <strong>Brimbank <\/strong>City Council, City of Greater <strong>Dandenong<\/strong> and City of <strong>Kingston<\/strong> have been named as finalists in the category, which saw a pleasing number of high quality nominations from various regions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo receive the number of nominations that we did in the award\u2019s first year, is a testament to the work being done by our local government partners and our clubs who continue to build strong relationships with local government area representatives,\u201d said Tennis Victoria\u2019s Ken Jacobs, Executive Manager Government Relations and Places to Play.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTennis strives to be a leader in this space, and it\u2019s important to reward councils who work collaboratively and proactively with the sport.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The award will be presented at <strong>Tennis Victoria\u2019s Championships Dinner<\/strong> on Monday, 27 June.<\/p>\n<p>Now in its fifth year, the Victorian Tennis Awards include the coveted Most Outstanding Club, Centre or Association award as well as awards for Volunteer Achievement, Coaching Excellence, Most Outstanding School, Most Outstanding Tournament and Junior Athlete of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>The awards have gained industry recognition, with last year\u2019s Most Outstanding Club, Mt Eliza Tennis Club, subsequently becoming a finalist at the national Newcombe Medal \/ Australian Tennis Awards and also the Victorian Sport and Recreation Awards.<\/p>\n<p>For a full list of 2016 Victorian Tennis Awards finalists which were announced recently, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/news-and-events\/events\/championships-dinner\/the-event\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2016 Victorian Tennis Award Finalists<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Supporting Tennis \u2013 Local Government Recognition <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>City of Boroondara<\/li>\n<li>Brimbank City Council<\/li>\n<li>City of Greater Dandenong<\/li>\n<li>Kingston City Council<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Tennis Victoria Championships Dinner will be held on\u00a0Monday 27 June 2016\u00a0at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Members Dining Room. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/news-and-events\/events\/championships-dinner\/the-event\">Book your tickets here.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For the first time, the Victorian Tennis Awards will now include a Supporting Tennis \u2013 Local Government Recognition award for Local Government Areas who are engaged with, and are supportive of, tennis in their community.
