Valkstone Primary School has been crowned\u00a0the 2015\u00a0Schools Sports\u00a0Victoria ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Leagues red ball state champions, winning the inaugural event\u00a0at the National Tennis Centre, Melbourne Park earlier this week.<\/p>\n
The event saw eight teams represent seven regions throughout Victoria,with primary schools from across metro and country Victoria including the\u00a0Lucknow PS (Gippsland),\u00a0Montpellier PS\u00a0(Western Metro),\u00a0Mount View PS (Eastern Metro),\u00a0Joseph\u2019s PS (Loddon\/Mallee),\u00a0Waverley Christian College (Eastern Metro),\u00a0Yarrawonga College0 (Hume),\u00a0Valkstone PS (Southern Metro) and the\u00a0Black Hill PS (Greater Western).<\/p>\n
The schools have been competing in a round robin, FAST4<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0tennis format from term 1, 2015. To reach the state final, teams played multiple rounds through district, divisional and regional stages, against a wide range of primary schools varying in students from grades 3 \u2013 6.<\/p>\n After three rounds, a semi-final and a final, Valkstone came out victorious after a very competitive finals play-off match against Mount View. The play-off for third saw another tough contest between Montpellier and Waverley Christian College, with Montpellier claiming bronze.
