The now annual Tennis Victoria Championships Dinner was held on Monday 24 June in the illustrious surrounds of the MCC Members Dining Room at the MCG.\u00a0 Coinciding with the opening day\u2019s play at Wimbledon, the TV Championships Dinner \/ Victorian Tennis Awards recognises the wonderful work carried out by tennis volunteers, coaches, and administrators across the state.<\/p>\n
In another great night for the sport, guests were entertained by the 1952 Men\u2019s singles, three times doubles and two times mixed doubles Wimbledon Champion Mr Frank Sedgman as well as current Fed Cup Captain Alicia Molik, former Davis Cup player Wayne Arthurs and Australian tennis great John Fitzgerald.<\/p>\n
\u00a0The highlight of the night though is recognising our Victorian Tennis Awards winners and none were more surprised that the Victorian Spirit of Tennis winner, Colin Stubs.\u00a0 Presented the award by last year\u2019s Spirit of Tennis winner Ian Barclay, Stubs accepted his award following a presentation by great mate John Fitzgerald.\u00a0 Thanking the audience, Stubs said that his time in tennis had been hugely rewarding and had lead to many lifelong friendships and great memories.\u00a0 In a highlight for Colin and the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club, the AAMI Classic was also awarded the Most Outstanding Tournament award as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n
