The Alicia Molik Cup was recently held at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club.\u00a0 Supported by the Club and the Kooyong Foundation the Alicia Molik Cup is a competition played by 12\/u mixed teams from both metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.\u00a0 In 2013, 10 regional teams and 6 metro teams were involved with players coming from as far as Warnambool, Swan Hill and Bairnsdale to be part of the action.<\/p>\n
The day was a huge success with the 64 children displaying some fantastic tennis.\u00a0 It all came down to the final that had everyone on the edge of their seats. In a final that\u00a0looked like seemed like it was going to be a never ending battle,\u00a0Waverley eventually defeated\u00a0NSJTA.\u00a0 Results at the end of the regular matches were 3 sets and 26 games all.\u00a0 Both mixed doubles pairs were sent out to play a tiebreak each however it was a draw again with each association winning 7-5.\u00a0 The teams played another tie break with each association again winning one each however Waverley won on points 7-3 defeating NSJTA 8-6.<\/p>\n
Congratulations to all teams involved, especially Waverley and NSJTA for putting on a great battle in the final.<\/p>\n
