{"id":10266,"date":"2013-03-15T10:26:10","date_gmt":"2013-03-15T00:26:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/?p=10266"},"modified":"2013-03-15T10:26:10","modified_gmt":"2013-03-15T00:26:10","slug":"tight-at-the-top-heading-into-round-three-of-the-tennis-victoria-premier-league","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/news\/2013\/03\/15\/tight-at-the-top-heading-into-round-three-of-the-tennis-victoria-premier-league","title":{"rendered":"Tight at the top heading into round three of the Tennis Victoria Premier League"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After two tightly fought opening rounds, round three of the Tennis Victoria Premier League competition begins tonight and could go a long way in shaping the finalists for 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The men\u2019s draw will head to Dingley Tennis Club for their Super Round, while the women\u2019s draw Super Round will be held at Dendy Park Tennis Club with both starting at 7pm, before heading to Grace Park (men) and Frankston (women) on Sunday for round four.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s incredibly close at the top of the ladder after the first two rounds which I believe highlights how strong this competition is \u2013 at the moment any of the teams could qualify for the finals,\u201d said Tennis Victoria\u2019s Competitions Manager Jeff Downes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith a shortened season of seven rounds, the two rounds this weekend will go a long way in determining who will make up the top four and play in the finals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Whittington (Australian Ranking 28) and Samantha Harris (AR 47) have joined the Kooyong Lawn men\u2019s team and Grace Park women\u2019s team respectively, ensuring round three will boast the strongest line-up so far.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe standard of tennis already has been unbelievable and with Whittington and Harris joining the likes of Peter Luczak and Viktorija Rajicic in the competition, it\u2019s only getting stronger,\u201d said Downes.<\/p>\n<p>After two rounds, Kooyong Lawn is leading the men\u2019s competition on 14 points, but MCC are only one point behind.<\/p>\n<p>Newcomers the Country All Stars registered their first points of the season in round two and will be looking to continue their good form heading into their match against Royal South Yarra Lawn Tennis Club.<\/p>\n<p>On the women\u2019s side, MCC is the only undefeated team after two rounds, with Kooyong Lawn following closely behind<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/comps.tennis.com.au\/common\/pages\/public\/rv\/draw.aspx?entityid=33007\" target=\"_blank\">Full results and ladder<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Please visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/competitions\/premier-league\" target=\"_blank\">Premier League website<\/a> for further information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Round Three Friday 15 March<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Men\u2019s Super Round: Dingley Tennis Club, 7pm<\/p>\n<p>Women\u2019s Super Round: Dendy Park Tennis Club, 7pm<\/p>\n<p><strong>Round Four Sunday 17 March<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Men\u2019s Super Round: Grace Park Tennis Club 12pm<\/p>\n<p>Women\u2019s Super Round: Frankston Tennis Club 12pm<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After two tightly fought opening rounds, round three of the Tennis Victoria Premier League competition begins tonight and could go a long way in shaping the finalists for 2013.
