{"id":28710,"date":"2022-08-29T11:42:50","date_gmt":"2022-08-29T01:42:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/?page_id=28710"},"modified":"2025-02-05T06:08:22","modified_gmt":"2025-02-04T19:08:22","slug":"womenleadersintennis","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/womenleadersintennis","title":{"rendered":"Women Leaders in Tennis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Tennis is committed to embracing diversity by making our sport welcoming, safe and inclusive for everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Everyone should have the opportunity to be included and engaged through tennis in a way that is positive and meaningful for them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Our vision is that there are no limits for women and girls on and off the court.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-28715 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/files\/2022\/08\/med_res.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"263\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">While Tennis is leading the way with significant achievements over the past 50 years, such as being the leading professional sport for women, equal prizemoney and strong representation on the Tennis Australia and Member Association Boards, there is more work to be done.\u00a0 Women are underrepresented in community leadership with just 26% of club presidents being women.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">It is important women take on leadership roles to ensure women and girls have <strong>an equal voice<\/strong> and can <strong>influence decision making<\/strong> at the community level on and off the court.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Tennis is committed to increasing and supporting women leaders in tennis. To achieve this, we are providing an opportunity for women in the community to complete the Women Leaders in Tennis (WLIT) program. Program graduates will gain a vast range of learning and experiences within the leadership domain as well as mentoring and support.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Women Leaders in Tennis Program<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The Women Leaders in Tennis Program aims to:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">&#x2714;\u00a0To build the leadership knowledge, skills and confidence of current and prospective community leaders<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">&#x2714;\u00a0To build a community of practice amongst women community leaders<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">&#x2714;\u00a0To increase participation of women and girls in community leadership roles in clubs<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">&#x2714;\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">To retain women community leaders.<\/span><\/p>\n<details>\n<summary class=\"btn\" style=\"margin: 10px\"><strong>Who should participate in the program?<\/strong><\/summary>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Current and prospective women community leaders in paid or volunteer roles in tennis clubs\/centres\/associations<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Club volunteers and committee members<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Senior club leaders (i.e., club president, coach)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/details>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Program Details<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<details>\n<summary class=\"btn\" style=\"margin: 10px\"><strong>Program Content<\/strong><\/summary>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The program consists of three modules:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Module 1 \u2013 Leading self,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Module 2 \u2013 Leading others, and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Module 3 \u2013 Leading change<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary class=\"btn\" style=\"margin: 10px\"><strong>Program Delivery &amp; Timelines<\/strong><\/summary>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The program will be delivered over 4 months and will consist of both face-to-face and online sessions and online interactive projects, which can be self-paced.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">1 day face-to-face workshop<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">3 x 1 hour on-line sessions (will be recorded in-case participants unavailable)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Final 1 day workshop face-to-face<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary class=\"btn\" style=\"margin: 10px\"><strong>Eligibility Criteria<\/strong><\/summary>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Be aged 18 years or over.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Identify as a woman.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Be an Australian citizen or have been granted permanent residence status.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Provide a Working With Children Check and sign a Member Protection Declaration.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Currently involved in a paid or volunteer capacity for a local affiliated Tennis Club\/Association\/Venue.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Have nomination from relevant personnel (e.g., Club President, Committee member or manager\/supervisor)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary class=\"btn\" style=\"margin: 10px\"><strong>Cost<\/strong><\/summary>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Fully subsidised in 2024-25 for participants from an affiliated Club\/Association<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Regional travel subsidies are available<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/details>\n<h3><strong>Program Outcomes<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Individual<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">&#x2714;\u00a0Growth in confidence and competence<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">&#x2714;\u00a0Women see themselves as leaders<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">&#x2714;\u00a0Gain valuable experience in clubs<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">&#x2714;\u00a0Gain knowledge of tennis governance and operations<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">&#x2714;\u00a0Coaching and mentoring from existing leaders<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">&#x2714;\u00a0Gain leadership skills<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Sport<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">&#x2714;\u00a0Increase in number of women volunteering at their club<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">&#x2714;\u00a0Women have an equal voice and influence in Community Clubs<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">&#x2714;\u00a0Increase in number of women in meaningful leadership roles<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">&#x2714;\u00a0Increase in % of women Club Presidents<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">&#x2714;\u00a0More women role models in coaching, officiating and community leadership roles.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">&#x2714;\u00a0More women and girls playing and enjoying tennis<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Social<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">&#x2714;\u00a0Welcoming, safe and inclusive clubs<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">&#x2714;\u00a0Reduced barriers for women and girls on and off the court<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">&#x2714;\u00a0Increased engagement &amp;
