National Academy Development Squad
Tennis Australia’s National Academy Development Squad program is for promising and talented young players from approximate 10-14 years of age. Players are exposed to a high performance training environment that develops professional training habits, competitive skills, tactical awareness and physical attributes required to be a tennis player.
The program incorporates strength and conditioning training, and develops independence in players through tournament tours to 12/u & 14/u National events interstate.
The program is designed to support and complement a player’s current weekly training (in collaboration with their private coaches) as well as their competition schedule. The program now sits under Tennis Australia’s National Academy Victoria program and is based at Melbourne Park utilizing the National Tennis Centre clay/hard courts and gym.
Invitations for the program are based on a 6 month selection period, from January to June and July to December each year. Selection is based on development qualities, character, compete, move & hit. Current Australian Ranking, results and performances in Australian Ranking tournaments. Tennis Australia’s underpinning talent development programs, Super 10’s competition and Talent Development Camps act as feeders for the National Academy Victoria Development Squad.
