LATEST COVID UPDATES FOR VICTORIA

Friday 22 October Update

With Victoria reaching 70% double dose vaccination levels, we are able to further return to the court from today. Thank you to the tennis community that have played their part to help Victoria reach this milestone.

Thank you for your patience today as we’ve worked through the many Directions issued by State Government overnight.

All Directions from State Government can be viewed here and clarification of these Directions can also be found on the Coronavirus website metro (click here) and regional (click here).  Our interpretation of the many Directions for tennis until we reach 80% double dose vaccination levels are below:

Metropolitan Melbourne

  • Tennis as a community sport can return for the minimum number required (singles and doubles play permitted) at outdoor facilities only. This also includes coaching, team training and match practice.
  • Competition and spectators are not yet permitted. A supervisory parent/guardian may attend with their child.
  • If a tennis club is open and used for community sport only, patrons participating or facilitating community sport (e.g. players, coaches, volunteers) do not need to be fully vaccinated to access the facility. Facilities providing goods and services additional to community sport will need to follow the Directions relevant to their operations.
  • Everyone attending a tennis club must continue to check in via the Service Victoria QR code app.
  • Face masks are required at all times except for those with a medical exemption and when playing on court.
  • Indoor tennis facilities, changerooms and clubhouses are still closed, toilets are open.
  • Visitors to the venue must only be from Metropolitan Melbourne. Regional Victoria residents are not permitted
  • Shared equipment must be cleaned between users.

Regional Victoria

  • Tennis as a community sport can continue for the minimum number required (singles and doubles play permitted). This also includes coaching, team training and match practice. Spectators are allowed, up to 20 people.
  • We are seeking further clarity on when Competition can return.
  • If a tennis club is open and used for community sport only, patrons participating or facilitating community sport (e.g. players, coaches, volunteers) do not need to be fully vaccinated to access the facility. Facilities providing goods and services additional to community sport will need to follow the Directions relevant to their operations.
  • Visitors to the venue must only be from Regional Victoria. Metropolitan Melbourne residents are not permitted.
  • Indoor tennis facilities are open for the lower of 30ppl per space or a density quotient of 4 people per square meter if all patrons are fully vaccinated (ages 16+). If not, all patrons are fully vaccinated or vaccination status is unknown, 10 patrons are permitted. COVID Check in Marshals are required for indoor facilities.

Thank you for all that you continue to do to provide tennis playing opportunities for our local communities.

Please reach out to the Tennis Victoria team if we can provide support during this time.
