{"id":988,"date":"2011-01-07T09:58:06","date_gmt":"2011-01-06T23:58:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/tas\/?p=988"},"modified":"2011-01-07T09:58:06","modified_gmt":"2011-01-06T23:58:06","slug":"a-taste-of-tennis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/tas\/news\/2011\/01\/07\/a-taste-of-tennis","title":{"rendered":"A Taste of Tennis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tennis was on the menu at the Taste of Tasmania festival on Hobart&#8217;s waterfront.\u00a0 Close to 1,000 participants enjoyed trying out their skills at Speed Serve and <a title=\"MLC Tennis Hot Shots\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/play-tennis\/mlc-tennis-hot-shots\" target=\"_blank\">MLC Tennis Hot Shots<\/a> on the Parliment Square lawns over two days.<\/p>\n<p>Event co-ordinator, Alex Jago from Tennis Tasmania said &#8220;It was great to see so many kids playing tennis for the first time.\u00a0 You could see the enjoyment they got from using the <a title=\"MLC Tennis Hot Shots\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/play-tennis\/mlc-tennis-hot-shots\" target=\"_blank\">MLC Tennis Hot Shots<\/a> modified court and equipment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Smaller courts, nets, racquets and low-compression balls make learning easy and gives younger players the chance to serve, rally and score right from the first time they play.<\/p>\n<p>Each day a prize of two tickets to the final of the final of the <a title=\"Moorilla Hobart International\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hobartinternational.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\">Moorilla Hobart International<\/a> was on offer for the fastest serve in the specially designed Speed Serve tent.\u00a0 Winners for each category were&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Male<br \/>\n18\/U Trent Rollins 155 Kph and Jay Tanase 176 Kph<br \/>\n19-34 Ewen Gordon 144 Kph and\u00a0 Mark Nash 157 Kph<br \/>\n35+ Stewart Edward 179 Kph and Chris Boghdadi 176 Kph<\/p>\n<p>Female<br \/>\nPenni Bout 127 Kph and Sally Deane 116 Kph<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tennis was on the menu at the Taste of Tasmania festival on Hobart&#8217;s waterfront.\u00a0 Close to 1,000 participants enjoyed trying out their skills at Speed Serve and MLC Tennis Hot Shots on the Parliment Square lawns over two days.
