{"id":9612,"date":"2020-12-08T11:14:37","date_gmt":"2020-12-08T00:14:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/tas\/?p=9612"},"modified":"2020-12-08T12:23:42","modified_gmt":"2020-12-08T01:23:42","slug":"southern-tennis-league-summer-season-champions-crowned","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/tas\/news\/2020\/12\/08\/southern-tennis-league-summer-season-champions-crowned","title":{"rendered":"Southern Tennis League summer champions crowned"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Saturday saw the <strong>Southern\nTennis League<\/strong> summer season come to a close, with a new powerhouse emerging\nin Division 1 as another team claimed back-to-back titles on home turf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lindisfarne Tennis\nClub<\/strong> played host on finals day for the second-consecutive season, with the\nfour teams across two divisions playing through wet and windy conditions to\nensure all six rubbers were completed in each decider. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Division 1 decider, the <strong>Domain-Ators <\/strong>(main picture) emerged victorious over club mates the <strong>Domain Penguins<\/strong> in a close contest, claiming a narrow 3-3-31 to 3-3-27 win over the previously undefeated minor premiers.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Represented on the day by Rob McEwan, Justin Bowman-Shaw,\nAlex Paltulny and Mike Webster, the Domain-Ators took the first three sets of\nthe final before hanging on in the rain to maintain a four-game advantage at\nthe end of the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Lindisfarne\nSharks<\/strong> capped off a second consecutive undefeated season in Division 3 with\na strong 5-5-34 to 1-1-16 win over the <strong>Kingston\nRebels<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Led by Hudson Pennells, Thomas Wilson, Nigel Barling and\nSean Kalimnios, the Sharks were well-supported by club members on the day and\ngracious in victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"716\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/tas\/files\/2020\/12\/Webp.net-resizeimage-97-1024x716.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9615\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/tas\/files\/2020\/12\/Webp.net-resizeimage-97.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/tas\/files\/2020\/12\/Webp.net-resizeimage-97-768x537.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Back-to-back Division 3 champions; the Lindisfarne Sharks<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Team Tennis and Tournaments Coordinator Matthew Scott<\/strong> was pleased with the high level of club involvement across the seven weeks of competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe level of support from the seven clubs involved in the\nSTL has been fantastic, with more than 80 players competing across the two divisions\nagain this season\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe standard of play and team spirit has been impressive,\nwith clubs taking ownership and pride in when hosting each week.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThanks again to the Lindisfarne Tennis Club for hosting another great finals day and to all of the players and volunteers who contributed to the summer season.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/matchcentre.tennis.com.au\/leagues\/16512\">&gt;
