Ever imagined what it would be like to play at Rod Laver Arena during the Australian Open? It is a dream that is set to become a reality for nine-year-old Lily Marshall from Burnie.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Burnie Primary School student\u00a0has won a VIP experience at Australian Open 2019, which includes the opportunity to play ANZ Tennis Hot Shots at Rod Laver Arena. It is part of her prize for being named a finalist in the 2018 ANZ Tennis Hot Shot of the Year competition.<\/p>\n

Lily, who is coached by Chris Chandler at the Burnie Tennis Club, is one of eight lucky ANZ Tennis Hot Shots participants from across Australia selected as finalists, receiving an equipment pack and the money-cannot-buy Australian Open experience.<\/p>\n

“I am speechless. I am so excited that I get to meet the tennis stars and get signatures and watch them play,” Lily said of her prize.<\/p>\n

“I can\u2019t wait to play with the other seven ANZ Tennis Hot Shot nominees and play at Rod Laver Arena. It\u2019s so exciting!”<\/p>\n

The award winner is announced during Australian Open 2019. They receive a $5000 prize, a year’s worth of free coaching and a tennis lesson with ANZ Tennis Hot Shots ambassador Alicia Molik at their club.<\/p>\n

The competition, which\u00a0receives thousands of entries every year, is open to all registered ANZ Tennis Hot Shots participants. To enter, participants need to explain in 100 words or less why they should win. There are six finalists\u00a0still to be decided for the 2018 award.<\/p>\n
