{"id":8095,"date":"2018-06-27T16:43:02","date_gmt":"2018-06-27T06:43:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/tas\/?p=8095"},"modified":"2018-06-27T16:43:02","modified_gmt":"2018-06-27T06:43:02","slug":"tennis-in-launceston-receives-2-million-boost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/tas\/news\/2018\/06\/27\/tennis-in-launceston-receives-2-million-boost","title":{"rendered":"Tennis in Launceston receives $2 million boost"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Tasmanian Government has committed to delivering $2 million to help upgrade the Launceston Tennis Community and Events Centre.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This project has the capacity to\u00a0\u00a0deliver key benefits for Tasmania and the Launceston region &#8211; economically, socially, physically and mentally,&#8221; MP Guy Barnett said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It includes new multi-purpose community spaces and provides the current world-class playing facility with greater capacity to successfully attract and operate elite tennis events.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Liberal Member for Lyons was in Launceston on Saturday to make the announcement, where he was joined by Tennis Tasmania chief executive officer Darren Sturgess.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s a much-needed centre and a much-needed commitment,&#8221; Mr Sturgess said.<\/p>\n<p>Tennis Tasmania has\u00a0also committed $300,000\u00a0to the project.
