{"id":6809,"date":"2015-12-02T16:00:22","date_gmt":"2015-12-02T05:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/tas\/?p=6809"},"modified":"2015-12-02T16:00:30","modified_gmt":"2015-12-02T05:00:30","slug":"eugenie-bouchard-to-compete-at-the-hobart-international","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/tas\/news\/2015\/12\/02\/eugenie-bouchard-to-compete-at-the-hobart-international","title":{"rendered":"Eugenie Bouchard to compete at the Hobart International"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">Former world No.5 <b>Eugenie Bouchard<\/b> will begin her Australian summer campaign at the <b>Hobart International <\/b>in 2016.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Tasmanian tennis fans are in for a treat when the 21-year-old Canadian superstar makes her debut at the 23rd edition of the tournament.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">In 2014 at age 19, Bouchard made her first Grand Slam semifinal at the <b>Australian Open<\/b>. She went on to win her first WTA title at Nurnberg before reaching the final four at the <b>French Open<\/b>.\u00a0In the same year, she reached her first Grand Slam final at <b>Wimbledon<\/b> becoming the first Canadian \u2013 male or female \u2013 to do so in history and made her debut in the world\u2019s top 10. The right-hander finished 2014 with a spot at the end of season WTA Finals in Singapore.\u00a0In 2015 Bouchard was named the most marketable athlete in the world before injury ended an up-and-down season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">The current world No.49 and fan favourite is looking forward to making a strong start in Hobart:\u00a0<em>\u201cI want to start my 2016 season strongly and am hoping to get high quality matches in Hobart.
