Given the testing conditions it was remarkable how high quality the matches were which was a credit to all players involved.<\/p>\n<p>In girls tennis action Jessica Fowler (St Helens) went back to back after winning the Devonport Junior Championships by defeating Jessica Chesterman in the 12\/U Girls Singles (Hobart) 6-3, 6-2. Fowler then paired Chesterman in the 14\/U Girls Doubles coming up short against top seeded Hobart duo Hannah Coombe and Sanyukta Singh 6-2, 6-0. After their doubles triumph Sanyukta then faced off with Hannah for the coveted 16\/U\u00a0Girls\u00a0Singles title. In a closer than the scoreline\u00a0predicted\u00a0Sanyukta claimed bragging rights with a 6-1, 6-1 win.<\/p>\n<p>On the boys side of the draw it was another hotly contested 12\/U Boy&#8217;s Singles event with some\u00a0phenomenal\u00a0tennis. Singles qualifying begun on Saturday with four qualifiers gaining entry into the main draw. After several hardly contested matches it was second seeded Ben Cawston (Ulverstone) who upset top seeded Victorian Timothy Karpinski (Melbourne) 7-5, 6-4. With the win Cawston extends his winning streak in Hobart to 8 singles matches with his last loss in Hobart back in January. After his triumph Cawston then teamed regular doubles partner Robert Green (Ulverstone) who were unable to recover from a slow start dropping a 6-1, 1-6, 10-5 decision to top seeded duo Timothy Karpinski and Tristan Lynch (Hobart). Next up was the 16\/U Boys Singles which again was hotly contested throughout. In the end top seeded Daniel Groom (Hobart) defeated third seeded Matthew Harris (Hobart) 6-2, 6-0. In singles action Groom is yet to be defeated in Hobart in 2013\u00a0claiming\u00a0all three titles this year. Groom then teamed up with Remy Lynch (Hobart) to overcome a slow start against top seeded Matthew Harris and Thomas Cornish (Hobart) 1-6, 6-2, 10-7.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks again to all participants, parents and officials for making this tournament such a big success.
