Events Centre plans unveiled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tennis Tasmania has unveiled design plans for the <strong>Launceston Tennis, Community &amp; Events Centre (LTCEC) <\/strong>to be situated at <strong>Tennis World Launceston<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Proudly supported by the <strong>Tasmanian Government, <\/strong>the<strong> City of Launceston<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0Sport Australia<\/strong>, and <strong>Tennis Australia<\/strong>, \u00a0the project is planned to be completed in 2022, with a Head Contractor tender process to commence later in June, upon which a true timeline of completion will be established.<\/p>\n<p>The LTCEC will incorporate a range of flexible multi-purposes accessible spaces overlooking the courts to facilitate a wide diversity of community events and engagements, providing sport, entertainment and recreational value for the people of Launceston.<\/p>\n<p>Locally designed, the new building will employ solar design technology and incorporate tennis imagery and memorabilia, as well as Aboriginal cultural design elements to root the building to its unique site and place.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minister for Sport and Recreation<\/strong>,<strong> Jane Howlett<\/strong>, was on centre court at Tennis World Launceston to welcome the plans and development update.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTennis is a great sport to be involved in at all levels from grassroots right through to elite competition,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur Government is proud to support a project like this that will help boost participation and growth in the sport.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10340\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10340\" class=\"size-standard-landscape wp-image-10340\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/tas\/files\/2021\/06\/LTCEC-artist-render-700x450.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/tas\/files\/2021\/06\/LTCEC-artist-render-700x450.png 700w, https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/tas\/files\/2021\/06\/LTCEC-artist-render-360x230.png 360w, https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/tas\/files\/2021\/06\/LTCEC-artist-render-200x128.png 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-10340\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>A 3D image of the proposed LTCEC courtesy of Preston Lane Architects.<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Launceston Mayor Albert Van Zetten<\/strong> was enthusiastic about what the LTCEC will mean for the future of tennis in the greater Launceston region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe City of Launceston is delighted to be working in collaboration with the State and Federal governments and Tennis Australia around this wonderful development,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTennis is experiencing growth in participation right across the country, and to have worked with all our stakeholders, including Tennis Australia, to provide these much-improved facilities at Tennis World in Launceston is certainly exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tennis Tasmania Vice President Pip Leedham<\/strong> is looking forward to seeing the benefits the LTCEC will bring to the Tasmanian tennis community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are really pleased to see this project coming to fruition after long-term planning,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Centre will add extra value to the Tennis World facility for players and tennis fans in the state, and we can\u2019t wait to see it start to take shape.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Architect plans and 3D images for the Launceston Tennis, Community &amp;
