Tennis Victoria Future Leaders Program

Tennis Victoria’s Future Leaders Program is designed for Year 10 and 11 students and provides participants with the opportunity to make a difference at their local tennis club. Program participants attend a three day camp, develop important teamwork and leadership skills and work with Tennis Victoria to develop a project plan to take back to their tennis club to complete. Participants are then required to complete a minimum of 40 hours work in completing the project and report back to Tennis Victoria. Participants are then invited to attend a graduation hosted by Tennis Victoria where graduates are able to enjoy a day at the Australian Open in recognition for all their hard work.

The Club is keen to support this program, if you/your child is interested in applying for this program, please contact a member of the committee, Danielle or email the Club.

Grounds Update

On Monday 29th April, work will commence to remove the hedges in garden bed near courts 5 and 6. The aim of this is to assist access and viewing of matches on these courts.

The committee has also ordered new outdoor seats to replace the existing seats and are looking at options for shades structures in the area between the banks of courts.

Watch this space for future developments…..

 Sam’s report

Senior Tennis Finals 2018/2019

A massive congratulations to Benji, and Luka for winning first place and bringing home the gold. It was a fantastic ending to the long season playing the grand final at our Tally Ho court’s. A special thanks has to go out to our Treasurer Victor Yang for filling in in the semi-finals. If it wasn’t for his skills and powerful  forehands then the boy’s Benji and Luka would not have made it to the grand finals the following week!

Melbourne Park Experience

On the 12th of April 2019 Danielle Jones (Club Coach) and myself headed down to Melbourne Park for what can only be summed up as a brilliant experience not only for myself but for some of Danielle’s student’s (and their parents)!

The day consisted of a behind the scenes tour which included Rod Laver Arena old parts and all the new areas, players locker rooms and much more. After the tour we were allocated to play against another Tennis Club in singles and doubles Hot Shot format. These matches were played on Show Court 2 and Show Court 3. The students had an awesome time playing on these courts as where many of their idol’s had played and the skill level from both teams could have matched even Roger Federer’s standard! The experience was one they will never forget as will I! A massive thank you to Tennis Victoria for the day and for Danielle for working hard and getting us this amazing opportunity. Last but not least thank you to the well behaved students. Danielle, myself and the Tally Ho Tennis Club hope that all had a great day out!
