Sunshine Coast Ladies Midweek Tennis Association Inc

Charity Day Wednesday 12th February 2020

17 February 2020 |
Despite the inclement weather we had 30 players attend the yearly Charity Day at Kawana Tennis Club on Wednesday February 12th 2020.
This year the chosen charity was the QCWA Bush Fire Appeal. Guest speaker was the Divisional President of the North Coast Branches of the QCWA Patsy Lee from Maleny. Who gave an insightful message into the work done by the QCWA in relation to Public Rural Crisis. The attendees were pleased to hear that 100% of our donation will be used to assist those impacted by the dreadful bushfire.
Firstly I must thank the Kawana  Tennis Club for again allowing us to us their facilities free of charge. We value your ongoing support.
It was pleasing to see that the early birds got the whole set up done in no time flat. Just goes to show what a band of determined women can do.
I was pleased to hear that my willing helpers on the front tables come early to ensure they get their chosen jobs! Thank you Rosemary, Heather, & Ange for doing such a great job. Also to Robyn who got raked in on the spur of the moment to sell raffle tickets.  Thanks to the willing catering team who produced lunch in a very hygienic & professional manner.
Two rounds of tennis were played before rain put an abrupt end to the outdoor activity. Trivia was conducted to fill in time until lunch was served. Winner of the Trivia was Robyn Brown.
Winner for Division 1 was Mary OConnell Caloundra
Good Sport prize was old faithful Sonja Fenwick from Caloundra
Winner of Division 2 was Shelley Stocker from Maroochydore
Good Sport prize was won by Mandy  Oster from Maroochydore
Lucky Door prize  was won by Gay McCarthy Maroochydore
Raffle was won by a Maleny person whom I have been unable to be contact.
Guessing the number of ANZACs in the jar was won by Lyn Brentnell from Caloundra.
The Cent Sale tickets were selling like “ hot cakes”! As usual the glass bottles of liquid were popular. Everyone left with a prize & a smile.
Lucky Number Board was won by Robyn Brown from  Caloundra Second prize was won by Kaye Wright from Caloundra. Both graciously donated their prizes to the nominated charity. Thank you ladies.
As this was Carols 30th Charity tennis tournament she has organised President Annie Lyons presented Carol with a bouquet of flowers & some yummy chocolates for her contribution to the Sunshine Coast Midweek Ladies Tennis Association. Carol responded & said she enjoyed doing this & was so pleased with the assistance she had been given by many businesses & tennis friends over the past years.
The profit from the day was $910! Yet another successful charity day.
Annie thanked Carol &  wished everyone a great tennis season & hoped to see them again next year.
