23 September 2014 |

What a lovely day to have the AGM at Kawana Tennis Club House. There were many clubs represented. It was nice to see Tewantin Club back after an absence. Welcome back.

Following the meeting morning tea was served. Thank you to those who supplied the eats & assisted in the clean up afterwards.

The Charity for the day was SCAR, Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge at Sippy Downs.

This was suggested by one of our fixture players who is also a volunteer in the cat area, Trish Adams. Guest Speaker was Penny, who gave an informative talk on the work done at Sippy Creek. Players were astonished to hear how much it costs to run this organisation & that no assistance is given by the Government. Sunshine Coast Regional Council is supportive in many ways. It was pleasing to know that there is no euthanasia performed there. The many questions from the floor  were capably answered by Penny.  In the absence of President Annie Lyons, Carol thanked Penny for attending & for her interesting talk. Carol asked her to accept  the donations of a tableful of eats for the residents at the Animal Refuge as well as a cheque for $922, as the profits from the day.

A special thanks must go to the Kawana Tennis Club for the donation of the Club House facilities as well as 8 tennis courts for the day.

I would like to thank all those who assisted in any way to make this day a great success. Carol Morris Charity Chairperson.
