Edward Vo<\/strong> (Croydon Park, SA) is the 2016 12-and-under Australian Grasscourt champion, after taking out the boys\u2019 title in Adelaide today.<\/p>\n

South Australia\u2019s No.1 12-year-old defeated Haru Sonton<\/strong> (QLD) 6-1 7-6(7) to win the tournament, played in Adelaide for the first time this week.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the first set I was playing aggressive and I thought I was comfortable, but in the second set I was 5-1 down. Then things started getting close, he had two set points, but I kept on fighting back and got it to six all and then I won [the second set] 7-6,\u201d said Vo following his match.<\/p>\n

In other singles finals action, Stefan Storch<\/strong> (VIC) defeated [2] William Hann<\/strong> (WA) 6-4 6-4 to win the 14-and-under boys\u2019 championship, [2] Anastasia Berezov <\/strong>overcame [7] Talia Gibson <\/strong>(WA) 6-1 6-3 to win the 12-and-under girls\u2019 championship and [3] Crystal Mildwaters<\/strong> (WA) defeated [1] Annerly Poulos<\/strong> 6-1 6-3 to win the 14-and-under girls\u2019 championship.<\/p>\n

In Wednesday\u2019s doubles finals, [2] Taj Hibbert<\/strong> and Rowan Mendis<\/strong> (NSW\/VIC) defeated Thomas Hann<\/strong> and Jed Plunkett-Smith<\/strong> (TAS) 6-2 6-4 to win the 12-and-under boys\u2019 title, whilst top seeds Emily Ioannou<\/strong> and Lara Walker<\/strong> (VIC\/QLD) overcame [2] Catherine Aulia<\/strong> and Taylah Lawless<\/strong> (NSW) 6-3 5-7 10-8 to win the 12-and-under girls\u2019 trophy.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, [2] Stefan Milenkovic<\/strong> and Stefan Storch<\/strong> (VIC) defeated top seeds William Hann<\/strong> and Nikita Volonski<\/strong> (WA\/NSW) 6-3 3-6 10-7 to win the 14-and-under boys\u2019 doubles title and [2] Krystal Clarke<\/strong> and Natasha Russell <\/strong>(NSW\/SA) defeated Kristina Lane <\/strong>and Cyan Sun<\/strong> (QLD) 4-6 6-3 10-5 to win the 14-and-under girls\u2019 doubles honour.<\/p>\n

The finals were a fitting finale to a tournament that has hosted 128 players from around Australia over the past week, giving players the opportunity to play for national titles and Australian ranking points.<\/p>\n
