{"id":8980,"date":"2015-11-23T10:54:49","date_gmt":"2015-11-23T00:24:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=8980"},"modified":"2015-11-23T10:59:13","modified_gmt":"2015-11-23T00:29:13","slug":"junior-atl-wrap-final","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2015\/11\/23\/junior-atl-wrap-final","title":{"rendered":"Junior ATL Wrap \u2013 Final"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The finals of the Junior ATL were held at Next Generation on Sunday 22<sup>nd<\/sup> of November.<\/p>\n<p>The Boys Final saw Southern Districts Tennis Association take on North East Tennis Association.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Josh Laka<\/strong> of SDTA prevailed in a very entertaining battle against <strong>Dale Nixon<\/strong> 2-4 4-2 4-3 in the first singles match of the morning. In a see-saw battle which saw the momentum swing numerous times throughout the match, <strong>Josh<\/strong> put SDTA on the board with a tiebreak win in the final set.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stefan Bianchet<\/strong> came up against <strong>Bradley Smith<\/strong> in the second match. <strong>Stefan<\/strong> was dominant in his 4-0 4-2 win, giving SDTA a perfect start.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blake Lowan<\/strong> of NETA gave the team some hope early in his match against <strong>Stan Karahalios<\/strong>.<strong> Blake<\/strong> raced to a 4-1 first set win, before <strong>Stan<\/strong> fought back and secured the next two sets to take a 1-4 4-1 4-1 victory.<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the singles matches, <strong>Jock Piper<\/strong> defeated <strong>Chris Hoang<\/strong> 4-1 4-2 to give SDTA an unassailable lead heading into the doubles matches.<\/p>\n<p>SDTA rounded out a 6 Rubbers to 0 clean sweep with <strong>Josh Laka<\/strong> and <strong>Stan Karahalios<\/strong> defeating <strong>Dale Nixon <\/strong>and <strong>Blake Lowan<\/strong> 4-0 4-2, whilst <strong>Stefan Bianchet<\/strong> and <strong>Jock Piper<\/strong> defeated <strong>Bradley Smith<\/strong> and <strong>Matt Hoang<\/strong> 4-0 4-1.<\/p>\n<p>In the Girls Final, Western Districts Tennis Association came up against Southern Districts Tennis Association.<\/p>\n<p>In a re-match of their battle in the minor round, <strong>Serena Williams<\/strong> of WDTA and <strong>Jacqui Scott<\/strong> of SDTA faced off again. <strong>Jacqui<\/strong> got SDTA off to a perfect start with a 4-1 4-2 win. <strong>Tully Richter<\/strong> of WDTA played against <strong>Lucy Eaton<\/strong> of SDTA in the second singles match of the morning. <strong>Tully<\/strong> had a 4-1 4-0 win to square the ledger at 1 rubber all.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maggie Pearce<\/strong> was ruthless in her singles match, playing some exceptional Tennis to secure a 4-0 4-0 win against <strong>Cydney Crumbie<\/strong>. <strong>Caitlyn Wyatt<\/strong> also had a win for WDTA, defeating <strong>Ebony Harper<\/strong> 4-1 4-2 to give WDTA a 3 rubbers to 1 lead heading into the doubles rubbers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jacqui Scott<\/strong> and <strong>Cydney Crumbie<\/strong> kept SDTA in the match securing their doubles match against <strong>Serena Williams<\/strong> and <strong>Maggie Pearce<\/strong> 4-1 4-2 to take the match to the final rubber.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lucy Eaton<\/strong> and <strong>Ebony Harper<\/strong> pushed the doubles rubber against <strong>Tully Richter<\/strong> and <strong>Millie Pearce<\/strong> all the way, but <strong>Tully<\/strong> and <strong>Millie<\/strong> ended up winning the match and securing victory for WDTA with a 4-2 4-3 win as WDTA claimed a 4 rubbers to 2 victory.<\/p>\n<p>A big thanks to all 6 Associations for competing in the 2015 Junior ATL. There was some great Tennis played throughout the four weeks of competition. It was great to see Angus Thomson, who the Junior ATL is named after, presenting the medals to the winners and runner-up competitors and presenting the shield to the winning associations.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the team of Court Supervisors and also Referee Stuart Nancarrow for their work throughout the Junior ATL.
