{"id":8640,"date":"2015-09-22T09:15:25","date_gmt":"2015-09-21T23:45:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=8640"},"modified":"2015-09-22T09:21:07","modified_gmt":"2015-09-21T23:51:07","slug":"tennis-sa-state-league-hits-off-with-launch-at-iconic-memorial-drive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2015\/09\/22\/tennis-sa-state-league-hits-off-with-launch-at-iconic-memorial-drive","title":{"rendered":"Tennis SA State League hits off with launch at iconic Memorial Drive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some of South Australia\u2019s best tennis talent are set to gather at the Memorial Drive Tennis Centre to launch the <strong>2015\/16 Tennis SA State League<\/strong> season at 10.00am today.<\/p>\n<p>The State League is South Australia\u2019s highest level weekly competition and has a long and proud history of providing a platform for South Australia\u2019s best tennis players to compete against each other in a team environment. Players such as World Tennis Challenge Director <strong>Mark Woodforde, Darren Cahill,<\/strong> current Davis Cup player <strong>Lleyton Hewitt<\/strong> and Australian Federation Cup Captain <strong>Alicia Molik<\/strong> are some of the big names to have played in the competition over the years.<\/p>\n<p>Tennis SA will be administering the State League this season, after it has been admirably run by the Metro Lawn Tennis Association for the past five years, including launching for the first ever time a specific State League brand.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015\/16, the men\u2019s State League competition will be headlined by a group of rising young guns in <strong>Brad Mousley<\/strong> (Golden Grove TC), <strong>Darren Polkinghorne<\/strong> (Glenlea TC) and <strong>Sam Longhurst<\/strong> (Broadview TC).<\/p>\n<p>Mousley will be looking to get Golden Grove off to a strong start whilst Polkinghorne will be looking to get early wins on the board to propel Glenlea into the season on a good note.<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s competition will see youngsters <strong>Nicole Kraemer<\/strong> (Kingswood TC), <strong>Olivia Ley<\/strong> (Prospect TC) and <strong>Isabella Ryles<\/strong> (Glenlea TC) looking to make their mark on the competition from round one, while South Australia\u2019s number one female player, Nicole Collie, will make her team Tea Tree Gully a force to be reckoned with.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s amazing to see some of the talent that we have here in South Australia playing in our local State League,\u201d said <strong>Steve Baldas<\/strong>, Tennis SA Chief Executive Officer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would encourage everybody to get out there and support their local State League club and players because it\u2019s going to be a great season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 2015\/16 State League season is set to get underway on Saturday, 10 October 2015 with the first weekend being a<strong> Super Round<\/strong> with all teams competing at the Memorial Drive Tennis Club to kick start the season.<\/p>\n<p>For more information visit the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/players\/adult-18\/state-league\" target=\"_blank\">2015\/16 State League website<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For further media information please contact:<br \/>\nKirsty Mosley, Tennis SA, 0466 562 249 \/ <a href=\"mailto:kmosley@tennis.com.au\" target=\"_blank\">kmosley@tennis.com.au<\/a><br \/>\nBreanna Hassam, Tennis SA, 0401 265 882 \/ <a href=\"mailto:bhassam@tennis.com.au\" target=\"_blank\">bhassam@tennis.com.au <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some of South Australia\u2019s best tennis talent are set to gather at the Memorial Drive Tennis Centre to launch the 2015\/16 Tennis SA State League season at 10.00am today.
