Tennis SA has said a fond farewell to its president Bill Cossey who recently resigned from the Board after 19 years as a Board member and 10 years as President.<\/p>\n
Bill\u2019s time on the Board has been outstanding and his commitment to promoting the sport of Tennis in South Australia is unquestionable.<\/p>\n
\u201cBill will be missed by the Board of Tennis SA and the staff as well as the wider tennis community,\u201d said Steve Baldas, Tennis SA CEO.<\/p>\n
Tennis SA affiliated Associations recently voted in Vice President Kent Thiele as the President of Tennis SA.<\/p>\n
\u201cKent is a great asset with 19 years\u2019 experience on the Board including being Vice President for the past 10 years.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cKent is also the Tennis SA representative to Tennis Australia; a role which he has done for the past 18 years,\u201d added Steve.<\/p>\n
During his first 10 years of tenure, Kent led our Senior Events and Premier League. He was Vice President with the South Australian Hardcourt Tennis League prior to its merger to form Tennis SA. He is also a Life Member of the Colonel Light West Tennis Club and the Southern Districts Tennis Association. Kent currently works for Telstra in IT Management \u2013 and these are management skills that he brings to the Board.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am honoured to have been elected to the position of President at Tennis SA,\u201d said Kent Thiele, President of Tennis SA.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to working with our CEO, the Tennis SA Board and staff, and Tennis Australia to build the health of our clubs, grass roots tennis and tennis facilities and I\u2019m particularly excited about the opportunity of re-development at Memorial Drive as we look to inspire the next Lleyton, Alicia or Thanasi!\u201d<\/p>\n
Kent also paid homage to the retired President Bill Cossey.<\/p>\n
\u201cBill is a great man whose tremendous stewardship over the past decade has put Tennis SA in a fantastic position. The Board and I wish Bill all the best as he takes time out to spend with his family \u2013 particularly his young grandchildren.\u201d<\/p>\n
