{"id":7968,"date":"2015-03-07T17:03:36","date_gmt":"2015-03-07T07:33:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=7968"},"modified":"2015-03-07T17:03:36","modified_gmt":"2015-03-07T07:33:36","slug":"day-9-2015-nyrstar-port-pirie-tennis-international","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2015\/03\/07\/day-9-2015-nyrstar-port-pirie-tennis-international","title":{"rendered":"Day 8 &#8211; 2015 Nyrstar Port Pirie Tennis International"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s been a beautiful day for the singles semi-finals here at the 2015 Nyrstar Port Pirie Tennis International.<\/p>\n<p>In the Men\u2019s third seed <strong>Matt Reid (AUS) <\/strong>and \u00a0fifth Seed<strong> Matthew Barton (AUS), <\/strong>were the first to take to Centre Court.<strong> Reid <\/strong>and <strong>Barton<\/strong> provided an exciting first set for the crowd that yet again created a great atmosphere for the players. <strong>Reid<\/strong> took the first set in a tie break and looked the goods when he leaded 4-2 in the second set until <strong>Barton<\/strong> switched back on hitting winners that <strong>Reid<\/strong> couldn\u2019t return coming back to take the second set. <strong>Barton<\/strong> then went on to continue his good form against an already beaten <strong>Reid<\/strong> taking out the match 6-7 6-4 6-1. <strong>Barton<\/strong> will now take on <strong>Alexander Sarkissian (USA) in the Men\u2019s Final<\/strong> who knocked out local talent <strong>Daniel Hobart (AUS)<\/strong>. <strong>Sarkissian<\/strong> seemed untroubled by the big crowds that came in to see his opponent, winning the opening set \u00a06-2. <strong>Hobart<\/strong> looked drained from the previous two three setters and was unable to fall into rhythm, <strong>Sarkissian<\/strong> took advantage of this taking out the match in straight sets 6-2 6-2.<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s Fourth seed <strong>Na-Lae Han (KOR)<\/strong> took on <strong>Mana Ayukawa (JPN)<\/strong>, with both players playing exceptional tennis in the first set that came down to one break of serve awarding <strong>Han<\/strong> the opening set 6-3. In the second set <strong>Ayukawa<\/strong> was troubled by her shoulder having a medical timeout early in the second set. <strong>Ayukawa<\/strong> continued to put in her best efforts but was unable to claim a game in the second set going down 6-3 6-0 to <strong>Han<\/strong>. \u00a0<strong>Han<\/strong> will now prepare for the final against \u00a0number three seed <strong>Su Jeong Jang (KOR)<\/strong> who defeated seventh seed <strong>Sandra Zaniewska (POL) <\/strong>comfortably in straight sets 6-1 6-3, proving why she\u2019s the highest seed left in the women\u2019s draw. <strong>Jang<\/strong> will now look to claim her second singles title in South Australia after winning the Clare Valley Tennis International last week.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow will be singles final day, with the Men\u2019s Final between <strong>[5] Matthew Barton (AUS) <\/strong>and<strong> [7] Alexander Sarkissian (USA)<\/strong> to start at 11:30am, Followed by the Women\u2019s Final <strong>[4] Na-Lae Han (KOR) <\/strong>and <strong>Su Jeong Jang (KOR).<\/strong> Spectators are encouraged to attend, with free entry.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on the Australian Pro Tour or Tennis Australia visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\">www.tennis.com.au<\/a>.
