{"id":7963,"date":"2015-03-06T20:05:12","date_gmt":"2015-03-06T10:35:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=7963"},"modified":"2015-03-06T20:05:12","modified_gmt":"2015-03-06T10:35:12","slug":"day-7-2015-nyrstar-port-pirie-tennis-international","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2015\/03\/06\/day-7-2015-nyrstar-port-pirie-tennis-international","title":{"rendered":"Day 7 &#8211; 2015 Nyrstar Port Pirie Tennis International"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s been another exciting day of tennis here at the 2015 Nyrstar Port Pirie Tennis International, with matches once again played in near perfect conditions.<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s, first to hit the court was third seed <strong>Su Jeong Jang (KOR) <\/strong>who started and finished her match strongly against sixth seed Aussie <strong>Jessica Moore <\/strong>winning 6-3 6-4. This left <strong>Priscilla Hon<\/strong> the only Aussie in the women\u2019s field, <strong>Hon<\/strong> put in her best efforts but was unable to claim victory losing in three sets to <strong>Mana Ayukawa (JPN)<\/strong> 6-4 3-6 7-6. \u00a0Whilst fourth seed <strong>Na-Lae Han (KOR)<\/strong> battled for over three hours for a spot in the Semi Finals winning in three sets 7-5 5-7\u00a0 6-1 against <strong>Yuuki Tanaka (JPN)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In the Men\u2019s \u00a0fifth seed <strong>Matthew Barton (AUS)<\/strong> was gifted a Semi Final when <strong>Harry Bourchier (AUS)<\/strong> retired in the second set awarding <strong>Barton<\/strong> a 6-2 3-0 victory. The match of the day was contested out on centre court in front of a packed crowd who flocked in to see local favourite <strong>Daniel Hobart (AUS)<\/strong> taking on number one seed <strong>Brydan Klein (GBR)<\/strong>. <strong>Hobart<\/strong> and <strong>Klein<\/strong> both came out to play hitting remarkable shots from all angles on the court, <strong>Hobart<\/strong> fell a way in the second set after a confidence boosting first set but was able to regain himself in the third set wining 7-6 1-6 6-3. <strong>Hobart<\/strong> will now take on seventh seed <strong>Alexander \u00a0Sarkissian (USA)<\/strong> in the Semi Finals who won convincingly against an injured Aussie <strong>Gavin Van Peperzeel<\/strong> 6-2 6-2.<\/p>\n<p>The doubles finals then brought the day to a close, with some sensational tennis on display. Number one seeds in the women\u2019s \u00a0<strong>Jessica Moore (AUS)<\/strong> and <strong>Abbie Myers (AUS)<\/strong> emerged victorious, taking home the 2015 Nyrstar Port Pirie Tennis International Doubles crown with a 6-0 6-3 win over third seeds <strong>Liu Chang (CHN)<\/strong> and <strong>Ran Tian (CHN).<\/strong> In the men\u2019s number two seeds <strong>Carsten Ball (AUS) <\/strong>and <strong>Matt Reid (AUS)<\/strong> contested the whole match against fellow Aussie pairing <strong>Steven De Waard<\/strong> and <strong>Jacob Grills<\/strong> with both pairings having there opportunities to win. <strong>Grills<\/strong> and <strong>De Waard<\/strong> continued to stay in front the whole match but was unable to keep the lead falling short at the last hurdle 5-7 7-6 10-7 \u00a0awarding the Doubles crown \u00a0to <strong>Ball<\/strong> &amp; <strong>Reid<\/strong> who now finish their South Australian swing with two doubles titles.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow&#8217;s semi-final\u00a0matches are scheduled to begin at 11:00am.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s been another exciting day of tennis here at the 2015 Nyrstar Port Pirie Tennis International, with matches once again played in near perfect conditions.
