{"id":7662,"date":"2014-11-26T09:02:23","date_gmt":"2014-11-25T23:32:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=7662"},"modified":"2014-11-26T09:02:23","modified_gmt":"2014-11-25T23:32:23","slug":"results-junior-atl-angus-thomson-cup-round-four-five","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2014\/11\/26\/results-junior-atl-angus-thomson-cup-round-four-five","title":{"rendered":"RESULTS: Junior ATL \/ Angus Thomson Cup &#8211; Round Four &amp; Five"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rounds four and five of the 2014 Junior ATL \/ Angus Thomson Cup were played at the Millswood Tennis Complex on Sunday, with Southern Districts Tennis Association and Eastern Districts Tennis Association asserting their dominance in the Boy\u2019s and Girl\u2019s sides of the competition.<\/p>\n<p>SDTA and EDTA faced off in the early action in what were two very close matches. In the Boy\u2019s matches, <strong>Jack Klose<\/strong> from EDTA played a strong match to beat <strong>Josh Laka<\/strong> 4-1 4-2, whilst SDTA\u2019s <strong>Harrison Paay<\/strong> had a strong win against <strong>Daniel Radesic<\/strong>, 4-1 4-1. Both doubles matches were decided by Super-Tiebreaks, with EDTA winning both 12-10 and 10-7, to take the overall win. In the Girls match it was a similar story, with EDTA taking the win overall 4 rubbers to 2. <strong>Jieyi Chen<\/strong> had a comprehensive 4-0 4-2 win against <strong>Emilia Bowell<\/strong>, whilst <strong>Olivia Salvatore<\/strong> and <strong>Alana Repanich<\/strong> prevailed with a 4-3 4-3 win against <strong>Marit Gillam<\/strong> and <strong>Jacqui Scott<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Western Districts Tennis Association defeated North East Tennis Association in the girls, with a 4 rubbers to 2 win. It wasn\u2019t smooth sailing for the WDTA girls as NETA put up a fight. This was shown in the doubles with <strong>Caitlin Wyatt<\/strong> and <strong>Millie Pearce<\/strong> combining for WDTA to eventually win their match against <strong>Jana Milutinovic<\/strong> and <strong>Michiko Trebilco<\/strong> 3-4 4-3 10-7. The other Girl\u2019s match between Hills Tennis Association and Glenelg Districts Tennis Association did not take the court after GDTA forfeited, giving HTA a walkover win. In the other boy\u2019s matches, NETA defeated WDTA in a very close encounter, where four of the six matches went to a third set. WDTA\u2019s <strong>Harrison Paton<\/strong> defeated NETA\u2019s <strong>Rowan McCarthur<\/strong> 4-3 3-4 4-2 to give his team some hope, but in the end <strong>Rowan<\/strong> combined with teammate <strong>Dale Nixon<\/strong> to beat <strong>Harrison<\/strong> and <strong>Mitchell Smart<\/strong> 4-3 4-2 to secure the victory for NETA. Meanwhile in the other men\u2019s fixture, HTA defeated GDTA 5 rubbers to 1. Hills were led <strong>by Brandon Wall<\/strong>, who was comprehensive in his 4-2 4-2 win against <strong>Brad Zidov<\/strong>, whilst <strong>Hamish Crawford<\/strong> didn\u2019t drop a game in a 4-0 4-0 win against <strong>Jacob Akash<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In the girl\u2019s afternoon round of matches, HTA defeated WDTA 4 rubbers to 2. In the number one singles, <strong>Hayley Edwards<\/strong> of HTA defeated <strong>Mikaela Pionilla<\/strong> 4-3 3-4 4-3 in a very tight encounter. <strong>Nicole Swanson<\/strong> gave WDTA some hope with a 4-3 4-2 win against <strong>Rebecca Rice<\/strong>, but unfortunately couldn\u2019t get her team over the line. EDTA showed that they will be hard to beat in the final this weekend with a clinical display against NETA. EDTA only dropped 7 games in their 6 rubbers to 0 win. <strong>Olivia Salvatore<\/strong> and <strong>Alana Repanich<\/strong> didn\u2019t drop a game in their 4-0 4-0 wins. SDTA received a walkover win against GDTA in the other match. NETA and WDTA had a tight encounter in the boy\u2019s matches also. <strong>Dale Nixon<\/strong> gave NETA the perfect start with a 4-1 4-1 win over <strong>Jared Waterman<\/strong> of WDTA. <strong>Luca Ilic<\/strong> had a 4-2 4-1 win against <strong>Blake Lowen<\/strong> to help WDTA over the line 7 sets to 5 after the match ended 3 rubbers a piece. HTA defeated WDTA 5 rubbers to 1. <strong>Noah Phillips<\/strong> defeated <strong>Nikolai Dobrovolski<\/strong> 4-3 4-2, whilst <strong>David Pienaar <\/strong>defeated <strong>Harrison Paton<\/strong> 4-1 4-1 to help HTA take the win. In the final match, SDTA defeated GDTA 6 rubbers to 0. SDTA were convincing in their win, only dropping 10 games. <strong>Jack Conley<\/strong> defeated <strong>Brad Zidov<\/strong> 4-0 4-2, whilst <strong>Zachary Mizgalski<\/strong> defeated <strong>Jacob Akash<\/strong> 4-2 4-0 as SDTA secured their place in the final this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The JATL now looks forward to the Finals being held at Next Generation Complex on Sunday 30<sup>th<\/sup> November from 9:00am<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rounds four and five of the 2014 Junior ATL \/ Angus Thomson Cup were played at the Millswood Tennis Complex on Sunday, with Southern Districts Tennis Association and Eastern Districts Tennis Association asserting their dominance in the Boy\u2019s and Girl\u2019s sides of the competition.
