{"id":7610,"date":"2014-11-10T11:38:37","date_gmt":"2014-11-10T02:08:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=7610"},"modified":"2014-11-10T11:38:37","modified_gmt":"2014-11-10T02:08:37","slug":"results-junior-atl-angus-thomson-cup-round-two-three","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2014\/11\/10\/results-junior-atl-angus-thomson-cup-round-two-three","title":{"rendered":"RESULTS: Junior ATL \/ Angus Thomson Cup &#8211; Round Two &amp; Three"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rounds two and three of the 2014 Junior ATL \/ Angus Thomson Cup were played at the Millswood Tennis Complex yesterday, with <strong>Southern Districts Tennis Association<\/strong> and <strong>Eastern Districts Tennis Association<\/strong> leading the way in both Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s sides of the competition. In the day\u2019s early action, it was the boys match between <strong>Hills Tennis Association<\/strong> and <strong>North East Tennis Association<\/strong>, which went right down to the wire. <strong>HTA<\/strong>, led by <strong>Brandon Wall<\/strong> and <strong>Noah Phillips<\/strong> were pushed all the way in their doubles encounter with <strong>Blake Lowen<\/strong> and <strong>Reece Hemming<\/strong>, winning the deciding rubber 4-3 4-3 to secure the tie for <strong>HTA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In the two other matches on the boys side, <strong>SDTA<\/strong> defeated <strong>WDTA<\/strong> six rubbers to zero. <strong>Josh Laka<\/strong> had a hard fought 4-2 4-3 win over <strong>Mitchell Smart<\/strong> in the number one singles match, whilst <strong>Harrison Paay<\/strong> and <strong>George Curtis<\/strong> put in a strong showing with a 4-1 4-1 win over <strong>Nikolai Dobrovolski<\/strong> and <strong>Nicholas Brown<\/strong>. Meanwhile <strong>EDTA<\/strong> defeated <strong>GDTA<\/strong> six rubbers to zero. <strong>Jacob Akash<\/strong> and <strong>Brad Zidov<\/strong> put up a fight in the doubles, but were unable to defeat a strong <strong>EDTA<\/strong> side, eventually going down 4-3 4-0 to <strong>Jack Klose<\/strong> and <strong>Daniel Radesic<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>On the girls side of the draw, it was again the match between <strong>NETA<\/strong> and <strong>HTA<\/strong> that went the distance. Both Doubles matches went to a super tiebreaks with <strong>HTA<\/strong> prevailing in both to take the tie<strong>. Ella Vandoleur<\/strong> and <strong>Jana Milutinovic<\/strong> were taken all the way by Hayley Edwards and Olivia Hughes, with Ella and Jana winning 3-4 4-2 10-6 to get <strong>HTA<\/strong> over the line. Elsewhere, <strong>SDTA<\/strong> defeated <strong>WDTA<\/strong> six rubbers to zero, but it wasn\u2019t easy for <strong>SDTA<\/strong> as <strong>Sasha Rankin<\/strong> was pushed all the way by <strong>Caitlin Wyatt<\/strong>, eventually winning 4-3 4-2, whilst <strong>Jacqui Scott<\/strong> defeated <strong>Nicole Swanson<\/strong> 4-3 4-2 to show that <strong>WDTA<\/strong> will definitely put up a fight in this competition. <strong>EDTA<\/strong> accounted for <strong>GDTA<\/strong> six rubbers to love. <strong>Alana Repanich<\/strong> was comprehensive with her 4-1 4-0 win, whilst <strong>Marsha Zelenskaya<\/strong> won 4-0 4-1, to show that <strong>EDTA<\/strong> will be a team to beat in this year\u2019s ATL.<\/p>\n<p>In the afternoon boys matches<strong>, NETA<\/strong> and <strong>GDTA<\/strong> had a tight match. <strong>Dale Nixon<\/strong> from <strong>NETA<\/strong> defeated <strong>Jacob Akash<\/strong> 3-4 4-3 4-1 in the number one single, whilst <strong>Brad Zidov<\/strong> was also pushed all the way by <strong>Rowan McCarthur<\/strong>, winning 2-4 4-2 4-3 to give <strong>NETA<\/strong> the accendancy as they won the tie four rubbers to two. <strong>EDTA<\/strong> were challenged by <strong>WDTA. Luka Ilic<\/strong> and <strong>Nikolai Dobrovolski<\/strong> had an entertaining three-set match, with <strong>Luka<\/strong> prevailing 3-4 4-2 4-2, whilst <strong>Jared Waterman<\/strong> was also taken to three sets by <strong>Mitchell Smart<\/strong>, eventually taking the rubber 2-4 4-2 4-3 in a tight contest. <strong>SDTA<\/strong> continued their good form with a six rubbers to zero win against <strong>HTA<\/strong>. <strong>SDTA\u2019s<\/strong> <strong>Zac Mizgalski<\/strong> was given a fright by <strong>HTA\u2019s<\/strong> <strong>Jasper Benson<\/strong>, who put in a strong showing to take it to a third set. <strong>Zac<\/strong> prevailed 3-4 4-0 4-2 to set <strong>SDTA<\/strong> up for a big win. In girls afternoon matches, <strong>NETA<\/strong> and <strong>GDTA<\/strong> played out an entertaining tie, with <strong>NETA<\/strong> winning four rubbers to two. <strong>Ella Vandeleur<\/strong> and <strong>Jana Milutinovic<\/strong> securing the victory with a 4-2 1-4 10-3 doubles win against <strong>Caitlyn Hedger<\/strong> and <strong>Jayne Hedger<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>EDTA<\/strong>\u00a0had a six rubbers to zero victory against\u00a0<strong>WDTA<\/strong> with <strong>Alana Repanich<\/strong> winning 4-2 4-2, whilst <strong>Millie Bird<\/strong> from <strong>WDTA<\/strong> pushed <strong>Marsha Zelenskaya<\/strong> all the way, but <strong>Marsha<\/strong> won a tight match in two tie-break sets 4-3 4-3. <strong>SDTA<\/strong> continued their good form from the morning and had a six rubbers to zero win against <strong>HTA<\/strong>. <strong>Hanna Dawood<\/strong> put in a strong performance to defeat <strong>Tayla Day<\/strong> 4-1 4-2, whilst <strong>Hanna<\/strong> and teammate <strong>Sasha Rankin<\/strong> had a hardfought 4-3 4-3 doubles win.<\/p>\n<p>The JATL now looks forward to rounds four &amp; five being played at the Millswood Tennis Complex on Sunday 23rd November from 9.00am.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rounds two and three of the 2014 Junior ATL \/ Angus Thomson Cup were played at the Millswood Tennis Complex yesterday, with Southern Districts Tennis Association and Eastern Districts Tennis Association leading the way in both Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s sides of the competition.
