{"id":7602,"date":"2014-11-03T12:42:56","date_gmt":"2014-11-03T03:12:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=7602"},"modified":"2014-11-03T12:42:56","modified_gmt":"2014-11-03T03:12:56","slug":"results-junior-atl-angus-thomson-cup-round-one","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2014\/11\/03\/results-junior-atl-angus-thomson-cup-round-one","title":{"rendered":"RESULTS: Junior ATL \/ Angus Thomson Cup &#8211; Round One"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Round one of the 2014 Junior ATL \/ Angus Thomson Cup was played at Millswood Tennis Complex Yesterday with reigning Boys &amp; Girls champions <strong>Eastern Districts Tennis Association<\/strong> asserting their strength on the competition with resounding wins over Strong <strong>Hills Tennis Association<\/strong> sides.<\/p>\n<p>The Boys, led by <strong>Jack Klose<\/strong> won two of the four singles matches against the <strong>Hills<\/strong> taking it to the doubles to decide the outcome of the rubber.<strong> EDTA<\/strong> were pushed by the Hills in the doubles only getting over the line with two super tie break wins in the third.<\/p>\n<p>In other Boys matches <strong>SDTA<\/strong> defeated <strong>NETA <\/strong>six rubbers to zero. At number one single <strong>Josh Laka<\/strong> from <strong>SDTA <\/strong>held off a fighting <strong>Dale Nixon<\/strong> 4-3 4-3 while <strong>SDTA\u2019s Harrison Paay<\/strong> made a strong JATL debut with a 4-0 4-1 win over <strong>Devon Reid. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>GDTA<\/strong> entered the competition with a new found confidence defeating <strong>WDTA<\/strong> in a close fought battle which was decided by only two sets. <strong>GDTA\u2019s number one Jacob Akash<\/strong> won in straight sets against <strong>WDTA\u2019s Mitchell Smart <\/strong>4-2 4-1 while <strong>WDTA\u2019s Harrison Patton<\/strong> followed winning against <strong>GDTA\u2019s Alex Haskell<\/strong> 4-2 4-2 to keep the team in contention.<\/p>\n<p>In the Girls competition 2013 JATL Champions <strong>EDTA<\/strong> led the <strong>Hills<\/strong> Team five Rubbers to zero with the match of the round between <strong>EDTA\u2019s<\/strong> <strong>Natasha Waterman &amp; Jieyi Chen <\/strong><strong>who took on<\/strong> <strong>Hayley Edwards &amp; Tayla Day<\/strong> from the Hills going down to the wire with the <strong>Hills <\/strong>prevailing 1-4 4-3 4-3.<\/p>\n<p>In the second Girls match the top rated <strong>SDTA<\/strong> team were on cue against <strong>NETA<\/strong>. At number one singles <strong>SDTA\u2019s<\/strong> <strong>Emilia Bowell<\/strong> overcame <strong>Ella Vandeleur<\/strong> in two sets while <strong>Bowell\u2019s<\/strong> teammate <strong>Jacqui Scott<\/strong> finished strongly to beat <strong>NETA\u2019s<\/strong> youngster <strong>Michicko Trebilco<\/strong> 4-2 4-3.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WDTA\u2019s<\/strong> girls came out with a strong start leading three rubbers to zero. <strong>GDTA\u2019s Danielle Quinlan <\/strong>kept her team in the match winning 4-2 4-2 against <strong>WDTA\u2019s Mikaela Pionilla.
