{"id":7268,"date":"2014-06-08T19:58:09","date_gmt":"2014-06-08T10:28:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=7268"},"modified":"2014-06-08T19:58:09","modified_gmt":"2014-06-08T10:28:09","slug":"update-2014-queens-birthday-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2014\/06\/08\/update-2014-queens-birthday-championships","title":{"rendered":"Update &#8211; 2014 Queen&#8217;s Birthday Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Main Draw Singles Quarter Finals for the 2014 Tennis SA Queen\u2019s Birthday Championships were played today in great conditions at the Memorial Drive Tennis Centre.<\/p>\n<p>In a shock to the tournament, number one seed Colin Ebelthite was unfortunately forced to retire in his match against number five seed Daniel Hobart at 5 all in the first set, suffering from a hip injury<\/p>\n<p>Second seed Yuya Ito made his way past eighth seed Sam Longhurst in a long match 1-6 6-2 6-2, whilst third seed Todd Ley defeated Sydney\u2019s William Myler 6-1 6-3. In the remaining quarter final, returning US College student Nathan Eshmade defeated sixth seed Matthew Teivans 7-6 (5) 6-2.<\/p>\n<p>In the Women\u2019s draw, top seed Nicole Collie moved swiftly past seventh seed Indi-Arna Morris 6-1 6-3. Second seed Alexandra Way had a tougher time against fifth seed Emily Martin from Victoria, eventually winning the match 6-4 3-6 6-3 in an hour and 30 minutes.
