{"id":7018,"date":"2014-03-11T10:56:56","date_gmt":"2014-03-11T01:26:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=7018"},"modified":"2014-03-11T10:56:56","modified_gmt":"2014-03-11T01:26:56","slug":"fitzgerald-and-woodbridge-in-town-to-celebrate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2014\/03\/11\/fitzgerald-and-woodbridge-in-town-to-celebrate","title":{"rendered":"Fitzgerald and Woodbridge in town to celebrate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The South Australian towns of Macclesfield\/Echunga and Watervale are set to celebrate a successful alignment with Australian Open champions <b>Stanislas Wawrinka<\/b> and <b>Li Na<\/b> as winners of Tennis Australia\u2019s unique AO Blitz initiative.<\/p>\n<p>The towns have been working together with Tennis Australia, Tennis South Australia and local communities to organise town celebrations on <b>Saturday 15 March <\/b>and<b> Sunday 16 March <\/b>respectively. Tennis legends <b>Todd Woodbridge<\/b> and <b>John Fitzgerald<\/b> will attend both parties to celebrate the towns\u2019 AO Blitz wins with the local communities.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday 15 March<b> Macclesfield\/Echunga<\/b> will host an evening of family-friendly festivities at the Macclesfield Sporting Complex, including a live band, the magnificent Australian Open singles trophies, a fundraising auction, a special appearance from popular children\u2019s character SpongeBob SquarePants and lots of prizes and giveaways.<\/p>\n<p>Dinner is included in the $25 entry fee for Adults, $10 for children (under 16) and $60 family (2 adults, 2 children) ticket. In 2013 more than 100 towns across the country held free community tennis days, set a challenge to find the fastest local serve and were visited by the Australian Open trophies.<\/p>\n<p>The leader board of 256 top-scoring Aussie towns was set just prior to the tournament, with each town awarded its own main draw player to cheer for.
