{"id":6930,"date":"2014-02-14T13:00:37","date_gmt":"2014-02-14T03:30:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=6930"},"modified":"2014-02-14T13:00:37","modified_gmt":"2014-02-14T03:30:37","slug":"wild-cards-for-city-of-salisbury-tennis-international","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2014\/02\/14\/wild-cards-for-city-of-salisbury-tennis-international","title":{"rendered":"Local South Australians awarded wild cards into the City of Salisbury Tennis International main draw"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a coup for South Australian junior tennis,\u00a0 <b>Nicole Collie <\/b>(Athelstone, SA), <b>Chloe Hule<\/b> (Underdale, SA) and <b>Petra Hule<\/b> (Underdale, SA) have been awarded main draw wildcard positions for the <b>City of Salisbury Tennis International<\/b>, to be held at the <b>Salisbury Recreation Precinct<\/b> from 16-23 February 2014.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNicole, Chloe and Petra have been working hard the past year on the ITF circuit and their dedication continues to pay off.\u00a0 This will be a great experience for them.\u201d said <b>Milo Bradley<\/b>, <b>National Academy Head Coach \u2013 SA.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re delighted to welcome Nicole, Chloe and Petra into the main draw of the tournament.\u00a0 The future continues to look bright for South Australian tennis,\u201d said <b>Breanna Hassam<\/b>, City of Salisbury Tennis International Tournament Director.<\/p>\n<p>Australian No.38 Collie, will be looking to make inroads this year after being awarded her second straight main draw wildcard at the City of Salisbury Tennis International. Nicole has been travelling on the Pro Tour circuit over the past month, with qualifying draw appearances at the $50,000 Bernie and Launceston tournaments. At the end of 2013, Collie won the Just 4 Tennis New Years Open AMT and followed that up as a semi-finalist at the 2014 City of Salisbury Platinum AMT just a week later. Collie experienced great doubles success in 2013, winning the $10,000 Usak, Turkey doubles event in August with partner, Leah Daw.<\/p>\n<p>The City of Salisbury Tennis International will be 16 year old Chloe Hule\u2019s first time competing in the main draw event of an ITF Futures tournament. Chloe has competed in the qualifying of four ITF Futures events in the past and has had some outstanding results on the ITF junior circuit of late, with an appearance in the Australian Open Junior Championships in January. Over the past month, Chloe has competed in junior ITF events in New Zealand with a Quarter Final singles appearance at the Wilson Tennis Canterbury ITF and Semi Final singles appearance at the 2014 Technifibre Tennis Centre Championships, along with back to back doubles titles at both tournaments with younger sister Petra.<\/p>\n<p>For 14 year old Petra, the City of Salisbury Tennis International will be just her third ITF Futures event and first main draw appearance at this level. Petra is coming off the back of an appearance at the Australian Open Junior Championships and fabulous results on the ITF Junior Circuit, after making the final of the Wilson Tennis Canterbury ITF and the quarter finals of the 2014 Technifibre Tennis Centre Championships. Locally, Petra also made a quarter final appearance at the City of Salisbury Platinum AMT early in January. Petra is riding high on confidence and will be looking to continue her success here at the City of Salisbury Tennis International.<\/p>\n<p>The fourth wildcard was awarded to Australian No.44 <b>Samantha Harris<\/b> from Victoria.<\/p>\n<p>Qualifying will start on Sunday 16 February with main draw matches commencing on Tuesday 18 February. Entry to the tournament is free with matches commencing at 10:00 am daily and the singles final commencing on Sunday 23 February at 12:00 pm.<\/p>\n<p>The <b>City of Salisbury Tennis International<\/b> is part of the <b>2014 Australian Pro Tour<\/b>, a series of professional tennis events that bridge junior events and the WTA Tour, providing an opportunity for players to earn their first world ranking points.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about the Australian Pro Tour, Tennis Australia or the players visit <a href=\"..\/..\/\">www.tennis.com.au<\/a>.
