Kraemer’s teammates Jeanette Lin and Claire Dixey put the result beyond doubt with straight sets singles wins. The win is a major boost for the Timberwolves who were without usual number one player Chloe Hule.

The Flagstaff Freighters again proved they are the team to beat in 2013 with a resounding five rubbers to one win over The Drive. The Freighters were led by world number 238 Viktorija Rajicic who had an impressive win over The Drives Alex Cannizarro 4-0 4-0 at number one single. Melissa Beadman scored the Drives only rubber for the evening with a 4-1 4-3 win over Nicole Collie.

Trinity Titans women proved too strong for the young Goodwood Saints side with a five – one win. The Titans got off to a strong start with Leah Daw and Amy Sneath both having straight sets wins. For the Saints Amber Marshall continued her strong ATL showing with a singles win over Trinity youngster Amy Yusa 4-1 4-1.

In the Men’s competition the Glenlea Gators won a tight match over the Broadview Tigers four rubbers to two. The Tigers, who are without their top two players battled manfully throughout the tie but were unable to match the Gators who were led by ATP ranked player Jack Schipanski. Schipanksi had a straight set singles win over Tiger Daniel Crago while fellow Gators Pan Kokkinakis and Daniel Hobart also registered singles wins.

In the second men’s match the Tea Tree Gully Timberwolves almost caused the upset of the season so far with a tight four rubbers to two loss to the highly rated Trinity Titans. Former touring player Josh Crowe started the Timberwolves off in style with a three set win over ATP ranked Colin Ebelthite. Young Timber wolf Tyson Devine had an upset straight sets win over David To 4-3 4-3. Locked at two rubbers all going in to the doubles it was the Titans who proved too good winning both doubles and taking out the tie.

Round three of the ATL now heads back to Memorial Drive where teams will be keen to consolidate their early round performances with an eye on the ATL final on Friday the 29th at Memorial Drive.

MATCH RESULTS:

South Australia: Men’s – Round 2:

Glenlea Gators 4-9-41 def Broadview Tigers 2-5-33;

R1 – D Crago Def by.
