{"id":4690,"date":"2012-08-13T14:21:27","date_gmt":"2012-08-13T04:51:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=4690"},"modified":"2012-08-13T14:21:27","modified_gmt":"2012-08-13T04:51:27","slug":"4690","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2012\/08\/13\/4690","title":{"rendered":"City of Salisbury Tennis International"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>City of Salisbury to host Australian Pro Tour event this September<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The City of Salisbury, located on the northern fringes of Adelaide, South Australia, is set to host an\u00a0 Australian Pro Tour tournament for the first time, when the City of Salisbury Tennis International swings into action at the Salisbury Recreation Precinct from 9 to 16 September 2012.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited that we have the opportunity to host the inaugural City of Salisbury International Tennis Tournament,\u201d said <strong>Gillian Aldridge<\/strong>, Mayor of Salisbury. \u201cWe look forward to welcoming all the players and officials to our city, and know they\u2019ll have a fantastic experience. It shows, once again, the city\u2019s capacity for hosting top sporting events and the Salisbury Recreation Precinct is one of our best assets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The $USD10,000 City of Salisbury Tennis International is a women\u2019s tournament, and is\u00a0 one of three Australian Pro Tour events to be staged in South Australia this year; the others being the men\u2019s City of Onkaparinga Tennis International (9-16 September) and the men\u2019s and women\u2019s Nyrstar Port Pirie Pro Tour (15-23 September 2012).<\/p>\n<p>The Australian Pro Tour is a series of international events that act as a springboard to the global tennis stage by providing vital ranking points and experience for the tennis stars of tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are expecting a strong field, Australia\u2019s <strong>Bojana Bobusic<\/strong> (Perth, WA) won the women\u2019s tournament at Mt Gambier last year and has already confirmed her attendance for Salisbury in 2012,\u201d said <strong>Ty Allen<\/strong>, tournament director of the City of Salisbury Tennis International.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s set to be a great week of world-class tennis for Adelaide locals, especially as\u00a0 the City of Salisbury Tennis International will coincide with the men\u2019s City of Onkaparinga Tennis International at Happy Valley in the city\u2019s south.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe City of Salisbury has really embraced the opportunity to host an international tennis event, and we\u2019re looking forward to delivering a great tournament in conjunction with the Salisbury Recreation Precinct,\u201d Allen added.<\/p>\n<p>During 2008, the Salisbury Recreation Precinct received a $1.3 million upgrade, which involved the development of eight new courts, four plexipave and four plexicushion.
