{"id":3928,"date":"2012-01-27T17:34:43","date_gmt":"2012-01-27T08:04:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=3928"},"modified":"2012-01-27T17:34:43","modified_gmt":"2012-01-27T08:04:43","slug":"freighters-fly-the-flag","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2012\/01\/27\/freighters-fly-the-flag","title":{"rendered":"Freighters fly the Flag"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>by Gordon Armstrong<\/p>\n<p><em><\/em>FLAGSTAFF Hill Freighters produced an excellent effort to make the women\u2019s National Tennis League final at Melbourne Park on Australia Day, losing to Kooyong four rubbers to nil.<\/p>\n<p>The Freighters won both their pool games on day one to qualify for the final against the other unbeaten side Kooyong.<\/p>\n<p>Flagstaff lost two of its matches in the final on tiebreaks and didn\u2019t play the last two matches as the overall result had been decided.<\/p>\n<p>The Freighters beat Victorian team Grace Park 4-2 in a pool match after Grace Park had lost to fellow Victorian team Kooyong on games.<\/p>\n<p>Freighters spokesman Ross Kauschke said it was a fabulous effort by the side.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt really was an extraordinary effort to make the final,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKooyong is regarded as the biggest club in Australia and for a little club like ours to make the final and go close was just a great result. We were the only non-Victorian side to make either the men or women\u2019s final and we\u2019re thrilled. The girls were a bit disappointed with the final but overall it was a great effort.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Flagstaff team was Ashley Keir, Olivia Lukaszewicz, Emily Webley-Smith, Kimberley Ruxton and Chloe Hule.
