{"id":34109,"date":"2025-09-10T14:01:39","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T04:31:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=34109"},"modified":"2025-09-29T10:19:36","modified_gmt":"2025-09-29T00:49:36","slug":"2025-city-of-playford-tennis-international-returns-in-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2025\/09\/10\/2025-city-of-playford-tennis-international-returns-in-november","title":{"rendered":"2025 City of Playford Tennis International returns in November"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <strong>City of Playford Tennis International<\/strong> will return to the <strong>Playford Tennis Centre<\/strong> for its seventh edition from <strong>Sunday 23 to Sunday 30 November 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Hosted by <strong>Tennis SA<\/strong> and <strong>Tennis Australia<\/strong> in conjunction with the <strong>City of Playford, TennisGear<\/strong> and the <strong>Playford Tennis Club<\/strong>, the combined men\u2019s ATP Challenger and women\u2019s ITF World Tennis Tour Australian Pro Tour event will offer a total prize pool of <strong>more than AUD $240,000<\/strong> along with valuable world ranking points.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s tournament holds extra significance as the final event offering points in the<strong> Australian Open Main Draw Singles Wildcard Race<\/strong>, ensuring a highly competitive men\u2019s and women\u2019s field in the lead up to Australia\u2019s summer of tennis.<\/p>\n<p>Previous competitors include 2022 Wimbledon champion and 2023 Australian Open finalist <strong>Elena Rybakina<\/strong>, 2019 US Open champion <strong>Bianca Andreescu<\/strong> and 2022 and 2023 Roland Garros finalist <strong>Casper Ruud<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In 2024, homegrown players <strong>Madison Inglis (WA)<\/strong> and <strong>Rinky Hijikata (NSW)<\/strong> took out the titles in a strong field, continuing Australia\u2019s proud history at the event.<\/p>\n<p>City of Playford Mayor <strong>Glenn Docherty<\/strong> welcomed the return of the tournament, noting that the pro tour series will be alive in Playford.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe City of Playford Tennis International has cemented its place on the world stage, delivering top-quality tennis and earning recognition from the Women\u2019s World Tennis Tour as an exemplary tournament.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year\u2019s tournament will take place in November, leading into Australia\u2019s grand summer of tennis and welcoming elite players to our Playford Tennis Centre, a venue purpose-built for events of this calibre.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tennis SA CEO <strong>Debbie Sterrey<\/strong> expressed her excitement about the return of the tournament:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are delighted to once again bring world-class tennis to the City of Playford.
